I am all for finding a defensive guy worry of consideration... but being on the 4-3 Cornhuskers with back to back bad losses at home... how dominating could he really be? He may be a Top 5 pick, but should be nowhere near the Heisman discussion.

He's been very dominant even in both of those losses. The offense is whats making that team look terrible. This past week in the loss he had 8 tackles, 1 sack and blocked an extra point and a FG attempt. He's a DT that plays sideline to sideline which is unheard of from that position. He consistently whips double teams instead of just taking them on and holding his ground.

At one point he was 6th in nation in pass breakups regardless of position. He's got too many QB hurries to count. In a year when no one on offense is really standing out the award should go to someone like him.

If we are talking about this season and this season a lone, I don't know how Tebow wouldn't be the most overrated player in college football. Honestly if we were just looking at it from this season, most people would just be thinking of Tebow as an average QB right now. It kind of makes you wonder how he would have done if he didn't have such great players like a Percy Harvin around him his first two years. Tebow is going to go down as one of the greatest college players of all time. However when it comes to this season he is far from great. I think its crazy how the ESPN Heisman projection thing, which usually ends up being right has Tebow as #1 still. Past seasons should not matter for this season. IMO he shouldn't even be top 10 on the list for Heisman this year as of now...

Until Tebow fails in the clutch, I can't call him overrated. Since the Ole Miss game, he has been tough to beat. His stats aren't great this year, but there is no better player this year when a team needs yardage. I really don't know if he could be stopped by a college defense when the Gators need a play. His stats are going to be a little down this year, his WR are garbage and his offensive line was overrated coming in. Other than Hernandez the other "playmakers" are really spotty. Demps can break a long one and just kill a team all game, but then he just kind of disappears. Rainey is a poor man's Demps. Moody has talent, but he fumbles and the coaching staff seems reluctant to play him. Brandon James gives the Gators nothing outside of the return game. I don't even want to get started on Thompson, Cooper and Co. The Gators are just a bad (relatively speaking) offense this season. It has little to do with Tebow IMO.

You would think a player as "great" as Tebow is, that he would be able to still overcome all that and still put up great numbers. As I said it makes you wonder if people would ever have talked of Tebow as being great if he wasn't surronded by other great players like Harvin before this year. I know I have stated this a few times, I think you could have put a few other QB's on last years Florida team and they would have had great numbers like he did and would have won the title too. There has been other QB's the last few years, he have also put up great number but have done it with less. Now we see Tebow with still very good talent around him, but just not as great as it was, and now he seems just above average. I mean the reason they are undefeated this year still is because of the defense, not him. They honestly probably wouldn't be undefeated if there wasn't some crazy calls by the refs in the Arkansas game to help Florida out.

I guess that makes sense. I just think that he has kind of proven himself though. I think that he is struggling if anything, and not showing his true game. I just think that until he loses a game we'll never really know. Since the Ole Miss game he has supposedly been unbeatable.

I am not trying to say he is a bad player. He is a very very good player, however I just don't think he really is one of the best college players of all time, even though he will go down as one of them. I think his reputation is the only reason why he is even being talked about for Heisman this year. I mean anyone else with the numbers he has this year, wouldn't even be talked about in the top 10 as Heisman candidates.

Someone said Mark Ingram had "only a 99 yards" this was against a decent defense with Eric Berry. How many backs have gotton over a 100 against the Vols?

What's your all's opinion on Lindley? Personally I love him and he's one of my favorites, but he came into the season with a ton of hype. Has he lived up to that hype in the games he's been able to play in? He has been very solid, and well deserving of his shutdown corner status, but I just feel like the hype was a little much.

I think you can tell Lindley's been hurt the last two years. He doesn't have elite speed, but to me he seems like about as good of a CB as there is. When healthy you just can't throw at him. I think he's right where he needs to be.

But, then again I am extremely biased. I've felt like Lindley was a star from early in his career. One of my all-time favorites.

That's kind of how I feel, because I know I'm very biased

It was actually a conversation I had with a friend who wasn't a UK fan which brought about this question in the first place.

Brooks stated he wished Lindley would have gotten in the weight room earlier and been serious about it. He has just gotten strong this year and then he is hurt. He stated he hoped Randall Burden doesn't wait until the end of his career to figure out he needs to get stronger. Lindley may be a little over rated but not much. He is a fine cover corner. :thumb:

Tim Tebow isn't overrated, I can't see how anyone thinks he is and that's not just because I'm a Florida fan. 2 SEC Titles, 2 National Championships, a Heisman Trophy and 2 Maxwell Trophies on his resume, obviously there are a lot more people think he's deserving of the accolades he's gotten.

For this season yes he is overrated, and I don't see how you can argue that...

Now for his career he is not overrated, I mean those are great accomplishments. He is going to go down as one of the best of all time. Now do I really think he is one of the best football players of all time, or do I think he was put in one of the best possible situations to succeed over many other players. I tend to go with the second option. I mean Urban Meyer so far has a system that makes every QB play great in it. He made Alex Smith a first round pick, he made Chris Leak who had underachieved for his career into a National Champion QB, and now Tebow. So is it really the player that is so great, or the system that they play in. I mean do you all think say like last year if you put a Colt McCoy at QB for Florida, or I can't remember his name but the Washington QB at QB that they still win a title? I know I think that they still would, and honestly might have been even better. Both those guys can run, and both are probably actually better passers than him. I mean you could put either one of those guys on this years Florida team, and Florida is probably better because their passing game IMO would be better.

I know when I look at a player and determine how good they are, I like to think of how they might do in another situation. Put Tebow at Washington, I don't think we ever really would have heard the name Tebow that much at all. He would have been a very average QB like he has this year. So far this year for the first time in his career, with not having completely great players around him, he has struggled and been very unimpressive. So we have seen him struggle with less, while we have seen other still find ways to produce and do really well with less than what he has. I just have a hard time saying he is one of the best players of all time, when you seriously probably could have put a few other QB's in for him the last few years and they probably would have been as successful and maybe even more successful. That system he plays in, is just a great system and so far has made every QB look great and possibly even better than they really are. Here is a question how many times have you seen Tebow throw a pass, and you just went wow what a great throw how did he fit that throw in there? I know I never have seen that from him, if he completes a pass its usually to a guy that is pretty open and not in a tight area like other QB's can fit it in.

I don't buy that he is a system guy. They added the Tebow type stuff because he is such a good runner. That's like saying Pat White is a system guy or Vick was a system guy, which I don't buy either. Sure Tebow is a runner, but no one else could run THIS UF offense. It's not what Meyer ran with Leak, or at Utah or at Bowling Green. Without Tebow UF doesn't even get to either Title game IMO, let alone win them. Sure he didn't play all the snaps his freshman year, but they don't beat UT or LSU without him, IMO. Their defense is great, but the offense wouldn't be as good. Part of what allowed Harvin, Murphy, Hernandez, Demps and Co. to succeed was Tebow. Locker may be able to run the offense the same way, but he doesn't give you the shortyardage running that Tebow does. Tebow is the best short-yardage player in the country.

As for the bolded, like I've said before, the Alabama game last season. He put passes in places where only his WR could catch it against great defense. No team IMO, defended them better and he played one of his best games.
