Black-Out Rumor for UK

Featured Replies

No one has said no to black helmets this Saturday. Just black uniforms. Black helmets with the blue would look pretty neat

Black helmets????????? For the love of GOD Scribe please don't give these fans heart failure. :scared::scared::scared:

This is quite simply one of the most poorly executed marketing ventures that I have seen with UK football.

Why have a "blackout" and the team not wear black?

Sports Marketing-FAIL if I have ever seen one.

Unless they are pulling the wool over the fans eyes, it is silly.

Exactly! :thumb:

No black unis = Blackout fail

I only have one UK shirt that still fits me and it's black with a blue UK on it. Maybe I'm just weird.

Brooks seemed like he was getting agitated by all the media questions about the uniforms yesterday. He said something like, "I'm not going to talk about this anymore. I'm a lot more worried about beating Mississippi State than what color uniforms we wear."

How hard would it be to get a few sponsors and put a black T-shirt on every seat? I feel like I could pull that one off.

45 degrees at night at the end of October in Ky just doesn't bode well for a tee shirt no matter what the color. I would love the concept, just not at this time of year. This should be planned in late Sept against a big name opponent.

From Mitch Barnhart....

Dear Wildcat Fan,

With Saturday's football game against Mississippi State coming on Halloween night, plans were made to make this a "Blackout Game" for our fans.

We are asking everyone to wear black clothing to Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday and cheer on the team. The Wildcats will remain dressed in our traditional blue uniforms, which has been our plan from the beginning of this concept.

The initial response from our fans regarding the "Blackout Game" has been very positive and we encourage you to join in the fun.

You are invited to wear your black and come out early on Saturday, enjoy a day of tailgating and Homecoming activities, greet the team at the "Cat Walk" at 4:45 p.m., then support the Wildcats as they seek their third-straight victory!

Go Cats!

Never have been a fan of adding colors to uniforms. However, I always think it's cool when a team where's an alternate jersey or helmet for one game.

I remember when LSU came out with white helmets and gold jerseys. Pretty sweet. I think Mississippi St. did too.

I wish UK would go back to the white helmets.
