If you're complaining about flags, clock, announcer, and the music in a J.V. game, then maybe you need to adjust your priorities. Last year Cov.Cath. whipped Highlands J.V. and that turned out to be meaningless. If I'm a Highlands fan I would be pleased with the performances of several underclassman.

 

I agree totally. Officialting is important to keep an even playing field but lets all be glad that the rivalry between these two great schools is getting more and more contested each year and at all levels. It is great that parents and football fans can go out on a Monday night and see great football being played. As a loyal Cov Cath fan I am glad to see the Colonels narrowing the gap at all levels and insuring that there will be great Cov Cath vs. Highlands games in the future. As much as I always hate to say it.....Congrats Birds. Go Colonels!

I was impressed by QB #45 for Covcath (Lankheit?). Very nice command of the field and threw some very nice balls. Also, #9 (WR) did a nice job running routes and made several fine catches w/YAC. He also stepped up bigtime as a fill-in QB to lead the Colonels to a big late score which set up the kick-off/time out stand-off.

 

Sheehan-New connections were HUGE! True ran well. HHS D was erratic...sometimes stellar, some plays/series...less than stellar. O-line needs alot of tinkering. Punters for BOTH squads were varsity quality!! Comment: I HATE seeing punts not fielded! I totally agree with previous comment on the punt snaps! Good, solid and clean game by both teams...the rivalry continues!!

 

As for the music, pre-game was hard rockin' tunes...the during game was for the cheerleader routines, I believe. Or it may have been "special request" for LN!! lol As for the scoreboard...it is NOT a case of shenanigans toward Covcath. The board has been having "issues" the past few games (national TV included!).

The point I was trying to make is that accurate criticisms of teams or programs should not be deemed bickering. Like you I would like to see more analysis. I see posters taking shots at kids on here routinely, and there isn't a lot of hoopla about that. However when one poster calls the other poster on the carpet for it, then all heck breaks loose if it's not sanitized to the point that Mother Teresa could have said it. I don't base my opinion on any program or their fans based upon what a few may say on here. I have really enjoyed this site, but it is certainly not determinative about my opinions of other players or programs. If someone has acquired a distain for Highlands, Trinity or Covington Catholic because of what posters say on this site then I would suggest to take a couple of steps back.. Personally I could care less what a poster says about me on here. I can simply respond back. The player on the other hand doesn’t have the same opportunity and often goes without a voice. It’s ok to criticize a player I guess, but you should be ready to back up your criticism.

One thing that really impressed me were the crisp snaps from center on the punts. I think it was Mitch Meyer. Some of the best I've seen, varsity included.

If I was a betting man, I would say that Carter New is moved to Defense only at the safety spot in 2010. Sort of what Austin Abner did this year. With Donavan McCoy moving up to varsity next year they should be okay at QB. If Carter works very hard in the offseason and the other current starters continue to improve, Highlands could have 3 former QB's starting on Defense next year. Austin Abner,Ty Siedl, and Carter New....:thumb:
