New was a decent quarterback for the freshman team last year. Does anyone know why Towles wasn't the freshman quarterback last year? I know it is irrelevant now, but I was just curious.

The HHS coaching staff for making the 99 yard pass call on 1st down after being pinned to the 1 inch line on the Cov Cath punt.

 

That isn't the first time they have done that this year.

The music gots to go... I was enjoying the contest prior to the announcer stepping up to the mike. And how in the world does J-- find his way into the press box to operate the clock? He does this everytime.

I think everyone must understand that true football fans only go to the football games to listen to the bands or so it seems some of the band directors think!

The Long Snapper is Mitchell Meyer (Soph). He did a fantastic job last night as some have pointed out. I was also impressed with Austin Bowling on the D-line for HHS in the second half. He was in Cov. Caths. backfield several times.

I think he did run a little QB last year according to LN but I asked the same question at one point. It is irrelevant because Towles really worked hard in the offseason I heard and has grown a few inches and developed nice arm strength. Remember, his granpappy is Jim Bunning and I think he had a cannon of an arm too. If Towles keeps working hard he will develop even more and be a very nice QB.

 

Carter is a very nice player as well and I could see him roaming the defensive backfield next season along with Seidle and Abner.

I was impressed by QB #45 for Covcath (Lankheit?). Very nice command of the field and threw some very nice balls. Also, #9 (WR) did a nice job running routes and made several fine catches w/YAC. He also stepped up bigtime as a fill-in QB to lead the Colonels to a big late score which set up the kick-off/time out stand-off.

 

Sheehan-New connections were HUGE! True ran well. HHS D was erratic...sometimes stellar, some plays/series...less than stellar. O-line needs alot of tinkering. Punters for BOTH squads were varsity quality!! Comment: I HATE seeing punts not fielded! I totally agree with previous comment on the punt snaps! Good, solid and clean game by both teams...the rivalry continues!!

 

As for the music, pre-game was hard rockin' tunes...the during game was for the cheerleader routines, I believe. Or it may have been "special request" for LN!! lol As for the scoreboard...it is NOT a case of shenanigans toward Covcath. The board has been having "issues" the past few games (national TV included!).

Didn't Rich Maile play 3 years of Football, Baseball and Basketball at Highlands. HUh!!!:thumb: I thinks Rich has a championship with the 1981 & 1982 football team. He was a senior on the 1983 team that was upended by Conner in the district championship.
