  1. For those that have not been to Highlands for a game you are in for a treat. It is a good football experience! As far as parking, what works for me is going down to the Memorial Parkway exit on 471 and driving up the hill (away from Newport) through Bellview. I park as close as I can and then walk up the hill to the field. Then when the game is over the walk back down doesnt seem as bad and is alot quicker. At any rate get there early!!!
  2. Kurt Barber from Paducah Tilgman was Mr. Football in 1987 and went to Southern Cal
  3. This will not be a game. Johnson just doesnt go deep enough into the bench to have a shot at the Birds. I think I only counted about 15 guys getting reps for Johnson against Cov Cath. They will be run off the field by a very deep and very skilled Highands football team. Highlands LB's will make plays on the sidelines this week that the young Cov Cath LB's were just not able to make last week. Highlands by more than 30. Johnson will also feel the effects of playing in Ft. Thomas where the field for the opponent seems to be 20-30 yds longer than the field for the home team.
  4. If I am not mistaken delinberatly breaking the rules is cheating, right?
  5. Cov Cath vs. Highlands Thursday @ Highlands 6:00
  6. Congrats to Dixie. Lets not forget that Dixie has a very talented group of sophomores that were very good last year as freshmen. I agreed with you TOG give Dixie their credit, they played well and won.
  7. Not sure if Cov Cath can host a game this late in the season without lights. Congrats to the Colonels for a big win.
  8. I agree totally. Officialting is important to keep an even playing field but lets all be glad that the rivalry between these two great schools is getting more and more contested each year and at all levels. It is great that parents and football fans can go out on a Monday night and see great football being played. As a loyal Cov Cath fan I am glad to see the Colonels narrowing the gap at all levels and insuring that there will be great Cov Cath vs. Highlands games in the future. As much as I always hate to say it.....Congrats Birds. Go Colonels!
  9. Just got word from Park Hills....Cov Cath vs. Ryle at Ryle 6:00 Wed night.
  10. I was at the game last night and that is how I saw it as well. Boone played very well and blocked and ran up and down the field on the Colonels. They had no answer for the Boone running game. Cov Cath also had alot of offensive mistakes and dropped balls. Good win for Boone.
  11. It was not Beechwoods choice last year. The entire Freshman alignment was changed last year. Instead of large school and small schools, the schools were all split east and west and the division mirrored the alignment for the NKY all-star teams. All of the teams that play with the East were togehter and all of the teams in the West were together. That is why you saw Beechwood playing the likes of Boone, Ryle and Connor. And you saw Cov Cath playing Newport, New Cath and Holy Cross. Essentialy teams that they have rairly if ever have played at the freshman level in the past. The schedule was realigned this year because the schools did not like it. Beechwood had a GREAT team last year and dominated all the games that they played, including the championship. But to be honset Beechwood is not going to have the numbers or the talent on a year by year basis to do that. My understanding is that they wanted to play "UP" this year but when they figured out their numbers issues they almost had to play with the small schools.
  12. I agree! Every game is exciting for the players that are playing and the fans who support those players!
  13. That would make no sense. If you play twos vs. ones then you have the ability in one week of playoffs to have a true championsip. The freshman schedule does not permit more than one week. Ones vs. Fours in freshman football would be a wasted week. The fours have a better chance to avenge a loss to the three seed than the one seed.
  14. Simon beat Boone in week 3. Boone's only shot is to beat Ryle this week.
  15. Jar, that is correct. West Ryle Simon Kenton Boone Connor East Highlands Cov Cath Dixie Campbell
