The freshman season is coming to an end. We are down to the title games in the two freshmen leagues. So who are the best of the best freshmen players everyone has seen this season.

From CovCath # 6 QB Blake Bir, #24 RB Bobby Beatrice

From HHS #7 Donovan McCoy (QB,LB) and # 55 Tyler Schweitzer (T,T)

Highlands- Donovan McCoy QB/LB

Ryle- Travis Pulice RB

SK- Jarred Swanson QB

CovCath- Bir QB

I don't get to see the SK frosh, how big is Swanson? Is he a mobile QB, or more of a passing QB?

Not real tall with an athletic build. Looks to have very strong legs. More mobile than a passer from what I have seen.

Who was #34 for Simon Kenton? He certainly had stature for a freshman and seemed to be there go to guy.

For Highlands I would like to add:

Collinsworth

Sidel

Dee

Streeter

 

There are more and I'm sure those closer to the frosh class will clue us in.

Knowing that Swanson will have another year to mature before starting varsity, I hope he's a sponge and follows Lawrence's lead.

There are many more players I could mention that are very good but these are players that are able to dominate in a game:

 

Beechwood - Erdman RB, Safety; Nussbaum, RB, LB

Cooper - Morris QB, Safety; Centers RB, LB

NewCath - Thacker DL; Collopy, LB

Lloyd has the Smith twins that play alot of varsity. Dexter at QB ( started couple games varsity and Dillion at FB. Both see action on varsity at LB.

NKYFL player of the year for 2008, Tyler Durham now attends Campbell County High School and is doing a very good job playing JV and Varsity. The kid is about 6'3" and a stud in every aspect.

For Bellevue Nolan Rechtin and Tyler Howe are two very impressive players who will be very good in the next couple of years.

Jared Bowling and he was their short yardage guy at FB. He has grown a little since last year and has nice size for a freshman. I would say he will be a player for the Pioneers in the years to come.

 

Swanson is built like a fireplug and is very muscular. The kid was built like that in the 6th grade and he does have nice quickness. I thought he threw the ball well last night so his passing was good.

I think #34 at SK was the same kid that lead Twenhofel to the 8th grade title last year. Don't think he gets enough credit for the work he does. It looked like SK played him out of position on defense alot, not allowing him to make tackles by constantly filling gaps in that 3- 5 defense.

 

McCoy looked like the real deal. Swanson is done growing and may not be able to stay at his position as he advances in HS. I like the QB at CovCath and the QB at Campbell looked strong.
