CovCath 34 Ryle 7 (Frosh 1st round playoffs).

 

Congrats to the the CovCath frosh in beating Ryle.

 

It was the first Ryle loss of the season, so congrats to those young men on a great season, they just ran into a buzz saw that was CovCath tonight.

 

If you had seen CovCath play the week before against Boone County, you would have thought, this couldn't have been the same team.

 

I believe QB Bir ran for 2 TD's, RB Beatrice ran for 2 TD's and Bir threw a TD pass to Egbers.

 

CovCath had two TD's called back on them from penalties and the CovCath "D" was just awesome. Really Ryle had no answer for the CovCath "D" tonight.

 

The score at the half was 14-7 CovCath, so it was close until near the end of the third quarter and the start of the 4th quarter.

 

Sorry but I don't have any stats.

 

CovCath will play the winner of the HHS vs SK game which I believe will be played Thursday.

CovCath took a 14 to nothing lead in that game also and just fell apart in the second and third quarters, but then CovCath scored a TD as the game ended (or close to it) to put them one point down. The coaches opted to go for the tie with a PAT kick but the kick was blocked and thus Ryle came away with the victory.

 

Agreed about the margin being a surprise but not the win!

 

You will be reading a lot about both teams over the next couple of years winning a lot of games!

 

To me at least, the loss against Boone County last week was a wake up to this young Colonel team. It was a slap in the face that you have to come ready to play each and every game and they came ready to play tonight!

Ryle is/was a good team and I saw them play three times this year and this was the only game that I wasn't impressed with them.

 

These are young kids who played an outstanding season of football, I tip my cap to the players, coaches and fans! Congrats Radiers....

Cov Cath just came to play tonight and our kids did not, Cov Cath deserved to win the game. You should be congratulating Ryle on a great, undefeated regular season instead of taking shots. Not sure if our kids were really out to impress you with any of their wins.

I saw Ryle play Highlands early in the year and was very impressed with their running game in Pulice and Pavey. Congrats to them on a fine season.

 

I listened to the Highlands/CovCath game on internet radio earlier this season and was impressed with the Colonels and their QB Bir. He sounded like a very good QB and they almost came away with the victory on the road.

 

If the Birds can get past the Pioneers I expect the final game vs. the Colonels to be a nailbiter.

 

Congrats to both the Raiders on a great season and a bright future and the Colonels for persevering after last week's loss to the REbels.

 

Remember, freshman championships are nice but its still about developing future athletes.

My guess is maybe Highlands if they can get past SK. My thoughts are based on the fact that Highlands beat CovCath during the regular season. If SK wins then I would think it would be at CovCath.
