October 19, 200916 yr I do find it some what odd that USC is 11th in the computers but 4th in the polls. West Coast bias. In all seriousness, the Ohio State loss yesterday couldn't have helped the Trojans in the computers. Without checking, would I be correct that that is USC's only win over a BCS Top 25 team?
October 19, 200916 yr That Bama defense was missing 2 of it's top 3 defensive players last night and still dominated! Still, until they show a solid passing game I would pick UF at number one.

Cal was 24 when they played USC and are no longer ranked. Notre Dame was 25 when they played USC and are no longer ranked.

Notre Dame was 25 when they played USC and are no longer ranked. Well, neither of those teams would have been ranked in the BCS ratings since these are the first, but point taken. The Oregon game will be huge for USC. It'd be a road win over a highly rated team that will likely stay rated before and after that game. Obviously if USC loses that it will put them out, but it would be a valuable win for them.
October 19, 200916 yr Does debating Florida Alabama really even matter? If they both win out they will play each other and we will see who's best. They may be the best 2 teams in the nation but unfortunately they won't get to play for the national title only for the SEC title What if Texas were to lose a game? Is there any possible way that the SEC championship is also the National Championship game? I guess what I am saying is that a one loss SEC team should be better to the computers than a one loss Big 12 or any other conference team and maybe even an undefeated Boise.
October 19, 200916 yr Florida and Bama are #1 and #1A. They just need to take care of business and decide it on the field.

They'll move the loser down just enough to knock them out. Right now I'd say it's UF or Bama vs. Texas/Iowa/USC. Alot can change but as of today I'd say it's the SEC champ vs. Texas or Iowa if either is unbeaten. If both lose I think the media hype will be huge for USC this season and they'll get in. I would have zero problem with a rematch though.
October 19, 200916 yr I was shocked to see Boise State this high. I would love for them to get in it.
October 19, 200916 yr As long as Florida and Bama stay 1 and 2 it doesn't matter. If Bama's better, they'll get the chance to prove it in Atlanta.
October 19, 200916 yr Spikes, Bama beat Va Tech, bame beat the Hogs 35-7, Gators won 23-20 on a last seconf FG. Bama D, one TD Td against the Hogs/Rebels/Gamecocks Alabama Larry Florida beat Kentucky with no problem while Kentucky was able to run on Alabama and give them a few Problems. Think Alabama is a great team difference between them and Florida is NO. 15 for Florida. GO GATORS.

Some like to be objective and that is fine. Through 6-7 games Bama has been the most consistent team in America. But, it's hard to take UF out of the #1 spot, IMO, until they lose.

October 20, 200916 yr Why b/c they won a close game against Alabama last year? Umm, maybe because they are the defending MNC and have won what, 16 in a row? Like I said, IMHO, UF is the best until they get beat. Bama may be #1 but we'll see in a few weeks, not today. Me personally, I'd like to rate the Gators #120 overall because I cannot stand UF football, but I think they have earned our respect over the last 2 seasons. Sure they lost alot, but I'm not sure that anyone has passed them. I want Bama to beat them and I like Nick Saban and come SEC Title Saturday I'll be the biggest Tide fan this side of Alabama Larry. Bama may be better but they will get a chance to prove so, that's all I'm saying.

They should wait 5 or 6 weeks before polls are released and the ranking should be based on performances only during the current year. It's just not fair to vote based on winning games last year.
