First BCS Rankings of 2009

Featured Replies

I get what you're saying, but I just hate polls b/c we have to go back to last year. They should wait 5 or 6 weeks before polls are released and the ranking should be based on performances only during the current year. It's just not fair to vote based on winning games last year.

True. I just think that UF is a proven winner. They have almost everyone returning and boast an undefeated record with one of the nations top rushing attacks and probably the nations best defense.

I know, but this isn't a sport where polls don't matter. In basketball, baseball, soccer, and every other sport rankings aren't important. In football they decide conference champions and who plays in the national championship. It's not fair to just say well Florida won it last year so they're the better team. I don't mind looking back for a frame of refference, but Bama has been better this year and they deserve to be ranked in front of them. In this instance it won't matter b/c they'll see each other, but what about Texas? What have they done to be in front of everyone else? Nothing. People just thought they were good b/c they were pretty good last year. Or so we thought. The B12 was kind of exposed in the bowls. oSU fans are wanting their coach replaced and they easily could have won that bowl game.

I agree. I think that there has to be at least 5 teams right now that are better than Texas.

They have almost everyone returning

With the notable exception of Harvin.

Either way comparing scores is a poor judge of how two teams will match up, IMO. For instance: Miami crushes GT, get killed by VT, but GT handles VT. So many things factor in IMO, on a given day. Bama and UF are neck and neck. Scheme-wise, especially defensively I'd go Bama. Experience-wise you have to take UF.
