October 18, 200917 yr http://msn.foxsports.com/id/10238202_37_1.pdf The gap between UF-Bama and the rest of the country is pretty considerable. Nothing really wrong with the first batch of rankings from me, you could argue for Bama or UF at #1 and I'd have Miami ahead of LSU, but other than that, it looks fine.
October 18, 200917 yr Why is that? Because Bama has looked stellar as of late and Florida has looked par at best.
October 18, 200917 yr Spikes, Bama beat Va Tech, bame beat the Hogs 35-7, Gators won 23-20 on a last seconf FG. Bama D, one TD Td against the Hogs/Rebels/Gamecocks
October 18, 200917 yr Bama has the best D, and the best run game. They have played the best as of late and should be number 1. Florida is number 1 because of the love affair with Tim Tebow, LSU is not very good and UF struggled terribly against them. Arkansas is even worse and a phantom personal foul gave Florida the game last night. If rankings are of the now, then there is no way Alabama isn't the best team in the nation.

October 18, 200917 yr Author So does scoring 56 points a game effect you all that much? UF isn't the same as last year on offense, but their defense is and that's the difference between Florida and Alabama.
October 18, 200917 yr Good spot for UC. They should jump Boise on strength of schedule alone. Can USC catch them if they both win out is the key?

Arkansas is even worse and a phantom personal foul gave Florida the game last night. If rankings are of the now, then there is no way Alabama isn't the best team in the nation. You are obviously someone who let's Tim Tebow effect your view of the rest of the team. That's a weak statement. Florida has statistically the best rushing offense in the country, and the best defense statistically, so I don't see where people are getting either of those stats. This is the same defense, by the way, that held the most prolific offense of all-time to 14 points last season. In case you didn't read any of the preseason previews, UF returned all 22 players on their defensive depth chart. And also, LSU may not be as good as their rankings show, but do you know how difficult it is to play there at night and you're the opposing team? I think it is a testament to UF's offense that they can pass the ball 16 times against them and still win the game. Florida also held LSU to zero touchdowns at home, which was the first time in sometime that that had happened. Arkansas isn't very good, but they are a lot better than they were last year, is UF only 3 points better than them? No, probably not, but every team has a bad game, the ones that are legit over come 4 turnovers and a seven point halftime deficit to win the game on the last drive in the fourth quarter. And here's some perspective on why Petrino had such a easy go of stopping Florida's run game: When Petrino was at Louisville, he and Scott Linnehan used many of the same run plays and packages that UF does now. Urban Meyer came to Louisville while at Bowling Green to get the run offense from Petrino. But when the run game didn't work, Tim Tebow's arm won them that game, and he can't pass apparently. Florida's defense has only given up 4 touchdowns all season, I don't care who you play four touchdowns in six games is darn impressive. Also, since we love going by how many points we score against teams to base our assessment of teams: Alabama's Defense gave up 24 points to Virginia Tech. Georgia Tech held Virginia Tech to 23. Does that mean Georgia Tech is better on defense than Alabama? No, but going by some of your logic, it would.
October 18, 200917 yr Does debating Florida Alabama really even matter? If they both win out they will play each other and we will see who's best. They may be the best 2 teams in the nation but unfortunately they won't get to play for the national title only for the SEC title
October 18, 200917 yr I wouldn't rule Iowa out of anything yet. They have as good or better chance of going undefeated as anybody. They are number 3 in the computer rankings. They don't get the respect they deserve in the polls because they weren't highly ranked when the season started and they don't win with style, they just win.
October 18, 200917 yr I do find it some what odd that USC is 11th in the computers but 4th in the polls.
