Dayton will be a good team, but they have to keep their heads. I know that Eastin is a bit of a head-case, but he is a good player. Dayton will be a tough team to beat because they can shoot the ball very well.

With all of that being said, I think with the record Shumate and the Tigers have the past two years you would have to think that they are the favorite. I think Villa and Dayton should have strong teams as well.

 

Couldn't agree more with you. I think it goes Dayton, Beechwood, than Villa. Only reason Villa is third is because you can game plan on how to stop Byran and contain him to twenty. Considering how much he'll shoot twenty isn't a lot. Beechwood will probably run that double team defense on him again. I'd say Beechwood or Dayton wins. Blake Byran POY hands down. He'll attend a d3 or small d2 for college.

What D2 colleges are recruiting him?

Dayton only lost one senior froma very strong 08-09 team and i think Dayton is the favorite to win the division with a full starting five back and a very stong bench.

From what I saw this summer, I think Calvary will be rebuilding this year.

 

Calvary will have to find some guys to pick up the scoring after their top two offensive players graduated. However, they will play tough defense.

The NKAC recognizes Divisions, from my experience it is mostly recognized by the Division III Schools (smaller schools) There is no trophy for winning but the small schools really pay attention to this record.

Actually Division Conference winners receive a very nice displayable team picture on display board, many of which are displayed in area team's gyms or gym lobbies.

I don't think you meant anything malicious by it, but if you don't KNOW a kid personally, you really don't know anything about them except for the way they play the game.

 

And as far as Dayton keepinig their heads? I think that would be a fair statement to say about any team (although it seems to be reserved for Dayton). You have a bunch of teenagers playing a very passionate, physical game, so every team in the state has to keep their heads to be successful.

I agree wholeheartedly, but I would just rather see a statement like that be kept to one's self as it can easily be taken out of context.

 

I have witnessed the hard work that Coach Dilts puts into his program to try and rid it of these kinds of assumptions and I tend to get a little touchy when these kids are branded a certain way, without merrit, because of past teams and players.

It was actually in the district tournament, but yes, Dayton gave Newport a very good game, leading until the final minutes.
