It was the not the speed of West Jessamine that hurt Western Hills, it was the Colts execution of their offense. West Jessamine was very physical and ran their offense to perfection. Hills seemed to have some assignment breakdowns and it resulted in big plays. Frankfort has great skill and team speed, but Hills was able to counter that with a good game plan and tackling. Will have to do the same this week at Spencer County.

Either way, nobody on the feild was going to catch him (that is why my statement about speed was made)...4x100 or not. Good thing it wasn't a track meet. IF Hills lets it become a track meet they are done...their 4x100 is not nearly as good.

Hills needs to be more physical on offense and get the ball in Wright's hands, alot more than they have in the last several games this kid had over 100 yards rushing against Woodford Co the first game of this season and was voted MVP by the Bluegrass Bowl Committee, looks to me like you would want your FB to have the ball more if he's putting up those kind of numbers.

 

Defensively they have got to come togther. you have got to make the hit wrap up and take them to the ground there should be no reason for anyone playing defense to have a clean jersey at the end of the night...

What is Spencer County's offensive line like? Western Hills' two loses have come against teams with big/physical lines. Hills has been able to contain teams such as Frankfort and Grant County which did not have dominate line play. If Western Hills can control the line of scrimmage, then will limit the number of big plays the Smith brothers can have for Spencer County.

I think this game is almost too close to call, although I picked WH by one (above). Any number of variables could tilt this game one way or another...

 

I understand Spencer's running game this year is an option attack...wondering if the potential for rain/mud hurts them? Can they pound it between the tackles? I too, would like to know about their line.

Hills could not defend the option game well at all vs. WJ, they got gutted and it was not all missed tackles either a few times there was no one in sight of the runner.

I do not think that Spencer runs the same option package as West Jessamine. Also West Jessamine put in many new plays and formations in their bye week that they had never shown before. The Colt's FB had gained at least 140 yards in every game, while Hills limited him to 83; it was the read-option by the QB that killed them (not gutted at all). From what I understand Spencer has all their offensive line back from last year, if so they are very physical and can run the ball between the tackles. We found that out the hard way last year at HC.

This will be another tough district game. Weather forecast is not favorable for Hills and their passing game. Spencer gets the nod here. The Bears by one score.

West Jessamine runs the inside and outside veer with the fullback, and option between the QB/Slotback. This is a very tricky offense to defend and the defense has to play good assignment football. Unfortunatley for WHHS there were mental breakdowns on who had the QB and pitch back, especially the QB. Spencer County runs more of a traditional triple option between the FB, QB and HB. It is easier to play assignment football against, and hopefully easier to defend. While I agree that FHS have speedier backs than Spencer Co., from what I have seen Spencer's #11 and especially #12 are more allusive than Frankfort's backs. If WHHS doesn't have good backside help against the cutbacks by #12 it could be a long night. As far as field conditions go, Spencer does have most if not all of their line back and they are big and strong, but not very quick. Even with a muddy field, I think WHHS will be able to control the line of scrimmage, and a muddy field would hurt Spencers running game more than WHHS'.
