West Jessamine runs the inside and outside veer with the fullback, and option between the QB/Slotback. This is a very tricky offense to defend and the defense has to play good assignment football. Unfortunatley for WHHS there were mental breakdowns on who had the QB and pitch back, especially the QB. Spencer County runs more of a traditional triple option between the FB, QB and HB. It is easier to play assignment football against, and hopefully easier to defend. While I agree that FHS have speedier backs than Spencer Co., from what I have seen Spencer's #11 and especially #12 are more allusive than Frankfort's backs. If WHHS doesn't have good backside help against the cutbacks by #12 it could be a long night. As far as field conditions go, Spencer does have most if not all of their line back and they are big and strong, but not very quick. Even with a muddy field, I think WHHS will be able to control the line of scrimmage, and a muddy field would hurt Spencers running game more than WHHS'.

 

That's what I'm thinking. The triple option requires some fancy footwork, including sometimes sharp cuts. Those may not be there for the Bears' backs on the slippery field.

Good post trueblue60 on differences between West Jessamine and Spencer County's option attacks. Against West Jessamine, Western Hills got too complicated in it's defensive schemes; which resulted in missed assignments. I think Hills will go back to straight assignment defense and do a much better job. Not many missed tackles against West Jessamine, just missed assignments. If Western Hills can control the line of scrimmage, then less opportunities for #11 and #12 to make plays for Spencer. LBs for Hills have to keep their assignments and tackle well. Wet field could hurt both teams, but limits Spencer's cut back lanes more.

Spencer County doesn't run veer. They run option. Veer is tougher to defend because the qb decides where the ball goes based on what the defense gives him.

 

As for the game the team o & D lines will decide this one. IMO Spencer has the better offensive line between the two teams. But I think WHHS line is good enough to win the game.

 

It won't suprise me if SPencer wins, but I think WHHS has more weapons.

Like I said earlier Hills has got to be more physical, the 3rd quarter against WJ was probably Hills best quarter defensively. This week they need to put that effort into all 4 quarters.

No..he's the fastest player maybe for Spencer County, but Frankfort has speed speed speed. If Erico Smith is so "fast" for Frankfort, how many rushing touchdowns did he get? :confused: 0. He did not even have a very long run except for 1.

 

Watch Frankfort's speed back's, they get down.

On that one, he was the fastest player on the feild...that was able to play at least. It's ok, one kid can be faster than FHS kids. It's not personnal, I have seen both play and he was the fastest kid on that night. Who knows what happens any other time. Can only base it off what happened. Overall team speed, sure Frankfort is faster, but that kid from SC was faster than anyone on the feild on that run, that night. Good luck to both clubs! :thumb:

I agree, I thiink they will come out with spit fire remembering last years game. Curry was tossed out and Spencer took it to Hills. However, This one is gonna be a slop fest, Hills didn't fare so well against East in this type of weather. This might be one of the more interesting games in the area!

You're right BigCat Hills didn't fare too well against East, however I think they learned alot about playing in nasty weather and will make the necessary adjustments. I think it will be close and hard fought with Hills coming out on top.
