October 5, 200916 yr Look, the bottom line is this. Without Palmer this team is in the tank. No way that they are gonna call a QB draw there regardless of the situation. He's the franchise, and that's not debatable. He lobbied to Marvin on the sideline not to kick it, and Marvin placed the game in his veteran QB's hands. He took what was available to him and it was the most important play of the game. But in no shape or form would anyone with a brain (insert favorite Jim Schue slam here) call the draw in that situation. Pressure came from the edges and left a huge void in the middle and CP took what they gave him. He was on the verge of finishing in a tie with the divisional cellar dwellers. No more, No Les. Wait, did I say Les? Where is Les anyway? Is there a question about whether that was a called draw? It didn't look like a designed play to me. It looked like Carson saw the opening, knew the situation and made a play to get a fresh set of downs. And, you're right about Carson. He's as important as any player in the league to his team.
October 5, 200916 yr Laverneous Coles has been a huge disappointment to date. 4 games, 10 total receptions for a whopping 78 yards, 1 TD, numerous dropped balls, and - most telling - not even on the field in some crucial situations. He's gonna have to step it up big time to be worth anything close to his $28M contract.

October 5, 200916 yr Coles has done a great job blocking and is a great locker room guy. I'm ok with him so far, aside from the drops against Denver he has played ok. I expected more production but I think he is still contributing in differents ways.

He was in the shotgun and took three small steps back before taking off. I think he looked at one receiver before seeing the open field in front of him. Not trying to bring it all back up again, but just wanted to clear up this 7 step drop stuff because that is not what happened.

October 6, 200916 yr How many steps can you take in the gun to get to a 7 step drop??? Not the same thing at all. Sure you have the same depth, but it takes longer to get back to the same point if you are under center than if you are already back there.

I’m confident in that, and we’re going to leave it at that.” It was a much different tone from a week earlier when Lewis said: “We’re very confident with Brad, and he has done an excellent job for a long time. Brad doesn’t have missed snaps in practice. For whatever reason, they’ve shown up in the game.” St. Louis, who is in his 10th season, has had four errant snaps in three games that have led to eight missed points (two field goals, two extra points). If you take a missed two-point conversion into account against Pittsburgh, an argument could be made that it is 10 points. Against Cleveland, St. Louis had two high snaps, which resulted in a blocked field goal and extra point by Shaun Rogers. Today is the player’s day off and usually a day when tryouts are held throughout the league. October 6, 200916 yr Its gotta be mental with St. Louis because honestly its that hard to long snap. He did it great for a number of years so it has to be something in his head.

I expected more production but I think he is still contributing in differents ways. How do you know he's a "great locker room guy"? $7M a year for a decent blocking WR is a bit much. He was paid that kind of money to catch passes and stretch the field. He hasn't done it. Maybe he will, but from what I've seen so far, he has trouble even getting open and seems to be struggling getting separation from the DB's.
