October 2, 200916 yr Not surprised. Oregon is wavering on a bowl bid and that means bucks. I wonder just how much Boise State's "nonpunishment" of their player that instigated it played into this. I know the Oregon coaches, administration, and even Pac-10 people weren't happy with how Boise State handled it. And you also have a coach that's already on the hot seat.

Maybe too harsh, but I agree it will be a horrible PR move if they reduce it now. Tough call, but that is part of what they get paid to do.

I didn't think it was too much, but I don't think 3-4 games is too little either. I've got no problem with them letting him play again.
October 2, 200916 yr He should get to play again, when Boise State failed to take responsibility for their part in this then I see no reason Oregon should have to be the only team that loses here. I lost all respect for Boise when this happened and they did nothing.

I lost all respect for Boise when this happened and they did nothing. I agree 100%.:thumb: Also, I think something that is overlooked is that Coach Kelly and Co. are trying to help this kid out. A suspension can go bad, players sitting out for a year can get into a lot of trouble, like Mo Clarett. The best way that Oregon can probably help this kid is to let him play and try to give him guidance. Outside of football there is a bond between a player and coach that coaches want to do everything in their power to build these players into good men. While it looks bad, I think it is for the best provided he can stay out of trouble.

I felt like a 5-6 game suspension (about half a season) would have fit the crime.

If your kid starts the altercation, then he's responsible for the result as much as anyone. Yakking happens, but if you do it and it leads to something bigger, then that something bigger is your own fault.
