Miami (FL) has a shot this season if they can defeat VaTech next week.

I mean I really believe that if there was a playoff system that USC would have won 5 National Titles in this decade. Which I think it would be hard for people to argue against me on that fact.

I know that, but I can't help but wonder. The Pac 10 is always wayyyyy too much of an afterthought for most fans, IMO.

I don't see why some of you get so upset when a lot of us say OSU is overrated the last few year and this year. I think we all have been shown to be right the last few years about OSU being overrated. So I don't see why some of you all still get so upset about it, because OSU being overrated has ended up being right the last few years like we said.

So you honestly believe at the end of most years, that most of these other schools are definitely better than USC? I think the only team you could make an argument for would be Florida and thats it.

 

I will say this though. By the end of this year, I don't think they will be one of the top 5 teams in the country though. Even if the rankings end up that way. I just don't think they are one of the best 5 teams this year.

It doesn't have as much to do with losing in-conference as much as it does WHO they lose to in conference each year. Oregon State was a decent enough team last year, but it was pretty difficult to forget that they had lost to Penn State and Stanford already before that, and got wiped off the face of the planet by Oregon towards the end. But Stanford at home in 2007? Oregon State and UCLA in 2006? These are problem losses.

 

I wouldn't have batted an eyelash had USC fallen to Cal, or even Oregon. But as improved as Washington may be, this cannot be viewed as an acceptable loss. They fall to bad teams way too often.

I like Miami right now they're looking very good thus far. Very high powered offense and pretty good defense as well. If they roll on with wins over both Va Tech and Oklahoma it will be interesting.

If USC were good enough to the point that they would win 5 titles out of the 7 years they've been a top team (2002-2008), they'd have won more than one BCS and one split title. The belief that USC would defeat all in a playoff every year is groundless. It's like you believe that every other good team is just going to fall apart in the face of USC.

I mean, I support Kentucky, but I'm an FSU fan in football first. But I have no love whatsoever for the likes of Florida, UT, Alabama, etc. I've never fallen into this line of thinking that if my team falters that I'm supposed to support the conference. To heck with those teams, I'm not a fan of them.

I know how you feel. I'm the exact same way, except I'm a Michigan fan instead of FSU.

With college football having the worst possible system in crowning a so called "National Champion" its not that hard to believe that maybe the best team does not end up in the Championship game. All it takes is one lost and then its just a bunch of opinions on who people think should be in the title game. Its really never who earned it more in college football, its just who people think should be in there. Not really who might be the best. Its just a joke, so its not hard to believe that maybe the best team in the country is not even in the title game in most years.

 

My whole point of this is though that your argument that their program is overrated is way off base IMO. I mean I am not even a USC fan I see that they are a great program, and a program that we all probably wish our programs were like right now. I mean like them or not there is only one team that can maybe say they had a better decade than USC in this decade and that is Florida. So I don't see how you can call them overrated as a program, when maybe one only team has been as good as them this decade.

I understand what you are saying. But the facts are is that Pac 10 schools bother to play quality out-of-conference schedules, while the SEC teams keep resting on their laurels. When you put yourself out there that often, there are going to be losses occasionally.

 

I look at this loss by USC as no different than LSU losing to UK a couple years back.
