Please shed some like on this if you pick like a 3a team does it have to be against a 3a or higher class and how long does it run? Regular season or into the playoffs ??

Apologies, I didn't see this earlier. If you pick a 3A team to win, they must be playing a 3A team or higher, so 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A. This runs until there's only one person left standing, be that in the regular season or playoffs.
