How often (and what) do you buy generic (outside of prescriptions)?

 

There are many generic or lower-level products produced solely for stores like Save-A-Lot and the Dollar stores.

 

Are you the type that buys strictly name-brand? Strictly generic? Is there any generic that you recommend over the name-brand?

We try to buy generic of what ever we can.

Mixture of both, except for clothes....Almost always name brand.

Definitely depends on the product. Some generic items are horrible. I believe generic tin foil is the worst product on the market.

I don't mind eating most generic foods, like cereal especially.

I agree.

 

And I think you can add some generic dusting spray and window cleaner.

Its pretty rare that I buy anything food wise that isn't Kroger brand lol.

I don't know about the Kroger brand but this months issue of Consumer Reports rated Great Value Pop-Tarts as better then the name brand.

I buy a good bit of generic stuff, mostly food, like cereal, cheese, kroger milks is fine for me. Clothes I tend to not buy generic unless it's for work or something.

 

BTW I even buy what some would call Generic Bourbon. I'm a big Evan

Could be. It's been quite a while since I bought pop-tarts. I bought a lot of them when my son worked at Kroger, because I went to Kroger more often. Now, I either go to Wal-mart, or my favorite Valu Market, which is a Louisville chain, and THE BOMB! :lol:

 

I just remember that I quit buying Kellogg's way back. The generic's have a ton more filling in them.

My wife and I go to Aldi's and get alot of generic's vs name brand foods, etc, and my prescription's when I can get generic at Target they are the best.

We do go to Kroger's for some item's. JD

I buy sam's club stuff all the time, like the canned soups and spaghetti O's or whatever.
