With all said and done I hope everybody does not truely beleive Beechwood is by any means down this year. They've faught two giant teams first 2 games. It takes a beating to give a beating.

After reading what Noel said about his defense being patheic and they can't tackle anyone after the Highlands game I wouldn't want to be his players this week. Everyone who knows Beechwood football knows that their defense is what they take pride in more than anything. With that being said I think Beechwood comes out with a great defensive showing and beats Holy Cross again.

I think Holy Cross has the better team. That being said the better team doesn't always win the game. Beechwood is a team looking to prove they are still one of the top teams in NKY. Holy cross has played two class A team that aren't up to Beechwood caliber this early in the season. I think Beechwood comes out and plays hard and makes it a close game but Holy Cross is to good in the end and pulls it out.

WOW! Didn't you see the first 2 games. I like HC in this one, but if Beechwood wins it will be very close game.

Not many (if any) 1A schools scrimmage two 6A schools followed by games against two 5A schools. B'Wood has taken their lumps and some boy's are bruised and banged-up, but this experience will start to pay-off this week. They'll miss a couple of experienced player's this week...however, I still expect a positive outcome for B'Wood.

I agree with this. Until proven wrong, you have to stay with the proven winner. HC has never won against B'wood, and this will be a tall order to do at B'wood especially coming into their home field 0-2. Pride and tradition will kick in, too.

Face it, if B'Wood would have played cupcakes and blown them out they would still be ranked #1 in the State 1A and in the top 5 in NKY...it would have taken until mid-season (CovCath) for the weaknesses to present themselves and everyone would have said "what's wrong in Ft Mitchell". By scheduling these powerhouses early...Rash has time to fix the obvious holes...and he will.

I agree totally with the "experience" comments. I just want to remind everyone that Holy Cross is also very experienced this year. This group has been playing together since 8th grade. I am very familar with the feeder programs for schools such as Beechwood that produce great talent every year. However, the planets are very much aligned this year for HC. They paid their dues last year by playing top schools such as Ryle and Simon Kenton and had respectable games. You will not, however, recognize this year's Indian team. No more "grade school" offense with the same plays and same sets. HC now runs a very complex spread offense with numerous formations, blocking schemes and options. Beechwood will need to be healthy defensively to deal with that. Bellevue and Pikeville were far from being "cupcakes". Bellevue has a great running game and Pikeville has a huge active D-line. It was interesting reading the Eastern Kentucky blogs and news media AFTER the Pikeville game (a complete turnaround of respect for the Indians). The HC first string "toyed" with both teams. As I mentioned in a previous post, I expect a good hard fought game on Friday night. Beechwood is Beechwood. Their tradition is well known. It has been said that Holy Cross is not Dixie and it is not Highlands. That might not be a good thing for Beechwood (cue their coaches studying HC film this past weekend). Friday night should be lots of fun. I can't wait!

Good post there Crunch-time. I agree with you that if these two swapped schedules Beechwood would be 2-0 and Holy Cross would be 0-2. That makes you think a little longer about this one.

You might want to wait until after the game before you go beating on the mighty Beechwood Chest. Tradition and all Beechwood has to be banged up a little to be so cocky about this game.

No banging the chest here and based on the outcome of BW's previous two games there is "zero" to be cocky about. I think HC is going to come into Ft Mitchell thinking a win is an absolute done-deal.

 

You are correct...HC is more experienced and BW is very banged up. A couple of key player's will sit out this week in preparation for CovCath next week...so the other poster above is correct "the stars are aligned for HC". It would be quite a blow to HC to lose to a young/inexperienced/depleted 1A team
