Like two Big 10 teams...they are both huge...but after seeing St. Thomas Aquaius(Sp?) a week or so ago, I'm sorry, neither of these two teams is within 30 points of those guys. The speed simply isn't there for either of these two.

They would probably beat many Division III and NAIA schools.

That was an amazing high school stadium and environment. What a neat place to play as a high school kid!

 

As for the level of play, Elder was much more impressive. But, once again, did anyone notice that Colerain's QB couldn't throw the ball in the ocean, and when he did throw it either A: the ball was WAY overthrown or B: the Colerain kid dropped it (and yes, I know they're an option team). The size for both school's was impressive and Elder's defense was stout, but it just wasn't as impressive as I expected.

 

I still contend that there are probably 15 teams in Florida and then several more in Calif and TX that would blow by the teams I saw today. Looked like typical Big 10 football...two teams full of hard nosed big kids who will knock the snot out of you, but probably wouldn't catch you in the open field.

I think Trinity will struggle mightly this week and next against Cincy X but I would bet one of the games will be closer than the "experts" predict.

 

That being said I predict that they will go 0-2 in Ohio this season.

It's amazing how laughable Colerain's passing game was. How can you ever expect to come from behind without being able to throw the ball. You are not going to run over everyone.

With all being said and done - I think it does speak volumes that these schools are willing to "step up" and take on these perennial powers - when such is not really required.

In 2003 and again in 2006 CovCath played both Cin St. X and Cin Elder both on the road. Now I must admit it wasn't back to back Friday's but......

Memory is a little sketchy on this one, but I thought Trinity had done something similiar in the mid 90's (95-97 range). Again, memory is sketchy on it, but I thought they played Moeller one week away and St. X the next at home.

 

I could be wrong, could be combining years, or could be thinking about Lou. St. X for that matter. I'm just throwing a "I think" out there to see if anyone else remembers better than I.

Are people really saying those teams lacked speed!?! Insane. Kentucky standards are just so0o high. lol.

 

They both were very fast, hit very very hard, and just have much more overall speed and size then anything you'll see in KY. Once in a blue moon KY may have a team like something you see over there, but it's rare. That's just another animal. Shocking that people would say they lack speed..and aren't special.

 

As for Colerain...well it is what it is. Someone I talked to who is a big fan of Colerains said they never really bought into teams just being able to run all over a team and beat them, but Colerain the past couple years has been able to. This year, they just can't. And their passing game is atrocious. Trying to come from behind with no passing game is hard to do...and they better figure out how to get that together.
