Bell County seems much more poised to handle big games, being they are the defending state champions. Whitley on the other hand, slipped badly in their only test this year.

 

 

With that said, I think Bell is more accustomed to handling the big game, and playing Alcoa will pay off Friday night. Bell by 21.

I will agree that Bell Co. is a main player in the King of the Mts contest, but respectfully I think there's a good arguement for Belfry and Breathitt Co., especially since they do have more state titles over the last 2 decades than does Bell.

I am a little surprised at the voting thus far. Whitley has 23 votes and Bell has 19. I think Bell is really coming together and is playing very well right now. This will be a tough game though. Both teams will be very physical so if you want to see a hard hitting game this weekend this is your game.

I agree with you Hounds. Not taking anything away from Breathitt they won those titles in 2A. They never won anything until they moved down in 1995. Bell County beat them pretty easy everytime they played.

 

But back to the thread. Bell will be ready for the challenge just like all ways. They have played in the big games before. This game will be a good challenge for the Bobcats good luck to both teams.:thumb:

Thats exactly my thought. I just can't imagine if Dudley's boys had a 33 to 14 lead with 9 minutes remaining, that a team coached by him would fail to finish the game.

 

That is the only reason I have to put my chips on Bell Co. in this game. Dudley is an ace in these type games.

I'd Like to see Carton and Davenport get about 10-15 carries each. I may be given grief over this, but I honestly believe Carton is the best back on this team if he shows up in shape. That in no way is discounting any of the other kids’ abilities though; Bell has 4 or 5 kids that could be the #1 back on just about any other team in this general area. Carton has the strength to pick up the tough yards that Davenport hasn’t been able to get at some times, and Davenport has that big play speed that Carton doesn’t, a nice mixture of these two, plus the passing game with athletes like Raines and the older Davenport at receiver could lead to some serious headaches for opposing defenses.

Actually if you go back and look at the time the two have been in the same classification, Rock probably has the upper hand in playoff wins (head to head) and has done as much damage in that time (2000 to present). I would say the last couple of years have been in Bell's favor but the last 9 years would be advantage Rockastle.

 

That said, I believe Bell is state champ and no one has defeated them since 2007. Until that happens, they will always be the favorite in my eyes. I say Bell over Whitley by at least 14.

I think that Bell will win against a very good Whitley Co. team. I am looking forward to seeing Bell play the Rock in a few weeks. It will defiantly prove if Bell is still "King of the Mountain", that's if they can beat both of these teams this year. I do think that the Rock is running under the radar this season.

Actually since both have been in the same classification they are 8-8. Since 1982 Bell holds an advantage and Bell has won 4 in a row now against Rock by a combined score of 146 to 7.

 

Bell has been known as the "King of the Mountains" Since the early 90's.

 

Should be a great game. Bell has lost to Whitley 2 times since 1983 or so. Last time was in 2000.

Looks like Bell is the underdog. Whitley thinks they have something to prove. Bell Co. just has to stay the course. Whitley is very hungry to finally Beat Bell Co. I just don't think Whitley can do it when comes down too it. Bell has held the advantage for a long, long time and will continue to do so.

 

I wouldn't think Bell would be an underdog to anyone. Bell by 10+
