Ashland's defense has been pretty dominating. The Tomcats have outscored their opponents 82–7 in two games.

 

The scoring has come in a variety of ways: defense, special teams, rushing, passing. The offense has not amassed a lot of individual stats, having been set-up in good position by the defense. They've had several short fields.

 

Alber had about 108 yards rushing I think.

Wow. Was I ever wrong! Sounds like it was a complete domination, especially by the Tomcats defense. I've said many times that Ashland was far and away the best team in our area this year. I think I just lost my senses and got temporarily blinded by the orange propaganda. :-)

 

I'll wait and see what Russell does against Greenup tomorrow night before I make any prediction about the Russell-Ashland game.

I cant argue with that. A Lyle, Carter backfield would be fun to watch.

I got to say Ashland's D looked pretty fast out there, congrats to the Tomcats. The Rams are going to be all right, they have alot of talent over there.

Rams learned tonight speed kills. I am really impressed though with Farley's ability to stand in the pocket and make throws. For a first year starter he shows no fear back there, but a couple times he tried a little too long for something to develop or dumped it off short for losses and took a couple of sacks. Still though rhat is better than forcing a throw and turning it over multiple times. Overall I was really impressed with his arm.

 

Rams went down 16-0 in 2nd but went on a good drive. Mckee just needed about one more inch of fingers to haul in a huge play that might have shifted momentum, after that missed opportunity there was just nothing doing. Tomcats defense was swarming to the ball. A couple of times Rams running backs got a glimpse of day light, but they just didn't have the extra gear like others did in the past to get through the hole. Wish Barr could have played they could use him.

 

Ashland is simply better. They are not big, but they are fast and their line has quick feet and gets off the ball well. Alger played a great game and if he gets a sliver day light he simply has another gear and before you know it he is 20 yards down the field. I couldn't even tell they were missing Carter, they didn't skip a beat.

 

Tomcats were just the better team. Rams have to shake this one off and get ready for Fleming County. For Ashland the 2009 season is so bright they might want to look into wearing sunglasses under their helmets.

I can't help but notice that while Ashland is beating up thier first 2 opponents this year, their main district rival Johnson Central has been on the other end of beatings in their first 2 weeks.

IMO this Raceland team will be far better when and if Barr is able to return, everything that I have heard on him from some people that really know the game is that he is the real deal...a beast, no over hype, just a very,very good running back and overall tough football player on "O" and "D". Also, I don't know if or how much Rister played but it was reported he played defense last week with a cast on his hand. IMO Rister will be another huge plus when he gets back 100% and on the offensive side of the ball.

 

I look for the Rams to keep getting better and by seasons end be a very good football team. Outside of LCA, this Ashland team was imo by far the best team on Racelands schedule and Russell will be no slouch. I love playing the tough teams like we always have........"the way you get better is by playing teams that can beat you"
