If so, I hope he gets to play soon. I hope he does well, also. And I hope Ashland doesn't struggle too much because of losing him. In this situation I'm glad Ashland is 5A and most of the other northeastern county schools are 4A.

It's a coin flip of when and if he will be ruled eligible. I just can't find a reason in the bylaws to keep from not playing, that doesn't mean the KHSAA can't.

The bylaws do not state that is has to be with the players current team. And it further states that the purpose of the practice requirement is for acclimation to the heat, so I don't think that would be an issue.

If he is declared eligible. You guys should also know that the GC team will be the ultimate descion maker on him playing this year or not. Copley will let the boys have the final decision in this.

3rd grade, I heard his coach was awesome.:lol:

Bylaw 25. Limitation of Seasons

Sec. 1) General Provisions Concerning All Sports

f) Each player, in order to be eligible to participate against another

school, shall have taken part in a minimum of ten (10) practice

periods extending over a period of ten (10) days during the

preceding three weeks.

 

g) Every player shall have

fi ve (5) days of practice without

pads (non-contact) to become acclimated to heat conditions

immediately prior to the

fi rst of the fi ve (5) required days of

practice in pads (contact).

I'm not sure about anything the KHSAA does? Is there a precedent of a kid playing for one school in week one, and then playing for another school that same year in the same sport?

 

Yes. There was a kid who played basketball at Corbin 6 or 7 years ago that was kicked off the team after about the 2nd or 3rd game and was playing at Lynn Camp in a 2-3 weeks. There was not even a change of address involved, at least not a legit one that I'm aware of.
