I'm not letting Coach Matney take away any success that Boyle County had last night. Both teams played a sloppy game. Boyle County had alot of dropped passes and a couple of turnovers. Johnson Central's option attack ran into a brick wall defense. Aside from the turnovers and dropped passes, Boyle County looked great. They put together some balanced drives that looked great. Devan Hale(sp?) is going to be a good quarterback at Boyle County when it's his time to shine.

Sounds like sour grapes and worry of that kind of drubbing on his home field, but, whatever.

You are right, Devan is going to be a good qb next year. He'll be a great senior leader. Not to mention, I like Devan Hale. He has had to wait awhile to have the chance to be the qb at the varsity level. Barring an injury to Boone, he will get 1 year to show how good of a qb he is. I watched him in the JV games last year and I came away impressed with his ability to lead the team at qb. He can make the necessary throws and he has good legs as well. I think people will enjoy having Devan Hale at qb and due to the circumstances he will get that chance to shine next year, his senior year, and I think he will make the best of it.

 

Does anyone know if he will qb the JV team or will it be Zach Hester?

I watched one of the Lexington station high school highlights and all it showed was the kickoff return for a touchdown for Johnson Central and then it showed the punter of Johnson Central get blown up fumbling the ball. Anyone see that same highlight reel? It was the worst. :lol:

In order to beat Boyle you will have to be able to throw it. And JC has never been able to throw it. They were only 1 of 5 for 7 yards and one INT. That won't beat Boyle.

I saw they only had 88 yards rushing, not 105 yards. :scared::eek::notworthy:

I think that the JV QB job will be split time between Hale and freshman Casey Whittle. Hester has been working primarily with the defense.

That's interesting. I am not against developing Whittle so he can lead the team for 2 years. Hester hasn't played qb for as long as Whittle or Hale either. I would think Hester would at least run the ball for the JV team, though. He got a few carries last night.

 

How come Devin Cox didn't run the ball last night?:idunno: I saw he starts at corner, but no carries at RB?:idunno: Hester is a decent RB, but Cox has a lot of potential at RB.

 

How long until Dre Cox suits up? I saw him with his jersey on last night on the sidelines, but with no pads. When will he be on the field?

Question...wasn't it Johnson Central who canceled their contract with Louisville Central?

Im a JC fan that wasnt at the game so Ill have to talk in general instead of this game. Since when is 49-7 running up the score in high school football? I have no problem with the occassional pass with your JV when its 30 or 40 points. If it were 89-7 then ok maybe not. Onside kicks are another thing, that would kinda be uncalled for late with a big lead.

 

 

 

Is this more than a local paper speculating or did the JC coach tell them this? If its true then shame on our coach but Im guessing its early and this is all talk.

 

 

Bottom line is Congrats to Boyle and their fans for the beating you handed out and good luck the rest of the way. This is one JC fan that will be rooting for you.

I second that. I met several JC fans before and after the game and they were as gracious before as well as after. Good luck the rest of the year and I hope we will be heading to Paintsville next:thumb: year.

As far as the paper, I haven't read the story yet, but the Advocate Messenger doesn't normally speculate things like that. I'd be surprised if this wasn't spoken by the coach to the Advocate Messenger.

He said Matney basically said Johnson Central didn't want Boyle to come to Paintsville next year and they would be looking into a buyout. He also said Matney wasn't being critical of Boyle/French, but just didn't really want a return game.

Someone should call Highland's, I think Dale is always looking for quality opponents. It would be great to get Boyle back on the schedule.

That just doesn't make any sense to me. And JC is trying to beat Highlands. That will never happen then.

A W by Boyle does not suprise me but dang the spread is suprising. Boyle is the clear cut favorite for 4A. If they can shut down JC they are for real again on defense.
