August 14, 200917 yr Author The humor in this thread is how HB feels about Vick vs. how he felt about Plax.
August 14, 200917 yr Maybe this is a stupid question, but what about TE? Well, normally I'd say... At 6'0, 215 pounds, he's too small for that position. But, he'd definitely be the fastest TE in the league...and a matchup nightmare if you look at it in the traditional sense of LB's and S's covering the position. But, if he were lined up there, wouldn't you almost be forced to pass, or run to the opposite side. There's no way he could hold up at the point of attack as a blocker. But, if we're talking about creative ways to use Vick and special packages just for him, why not? Perhaps Andy Reid and company could figure out a way to get a big mismatch with Vick lined up as a TE. So, to put it simply, there's no way he could play the position permanently, but who knows about special packages/plays that would line him up there? What do you think?
August 14, 200917 yr How can it hurt your team when his actions that he committed were off the field? His teammates in Atlanta loved him. Not once when he was in Atlanta was he ever accused of being a bad teammate or a headcase as you call it. As Cats3X said, he may not have been a traditional qb, but he won games at the qb position which is all we ask for, right? And he did it with little talent around him. He may not have been a model citizen, but I think it's a stretch to say he''ll hurt the team because he's a headcase. He's not nearly the headcase that T.O. is and even T.O. took the Eagles to the Super Bowl. TO while he is a headcase, hasn't been put in prison or tested positive for marijuana or been caught at an airport with a water bottle used to store marijauna . TO is just crazy, but he doesn't break the law. And like 5W said, TO didnt' take the Eagles to the super bowl. And about Vick "just winning". During his years in Atlanta (2001-2006) the Falcons went 47-48-1 making the playoffs two times.
August 14, 200917 yr The humor in this thread is how HB feels about Vick vs. how he felt about Plax. Plax was an idiot for doing what he did and should go to jail when he broke the law (I don't agree with the minimum sentence in New York but that's another story). I did argue for Plax in other non-criminal related discussions. I don't recall Plax ever torturing and killing animals while running an illegal dog fighting operation. Two completely different stories.
August 14, 200917 yr But he won games. The only numbers that matter are the W's. In the 4 seasons where Vick stayed healthy and played all year (15 games in '02, '04-06), his record was 35-28-1, with two playoff appearances and a 2-2 record in the post-season. That's not Brady or Manning, but it's not bad.

August 14, 200917 yr I don't see Vick being used as a WR. If he does, I'd say most of the passes he'd get would be quick screens to get him the ball in space...there's too many other things he could do right now, IMO, to waste time trying to polish him as a WR. Look at Devin Hester...the guy was a CB and kick returner and he's had a steep learning curve to play WR. WR in the NFL seems to have one of the steepest learning curves of any position. JMO :thumb::thumb: It's one of the hardest positions for a rookie to come in and play well at right away. Some can do it, but not too many IMO.
August 14, 200917 yr But, he was still a jerk and a head case and a distraction for the team. How was he a distraction? They won a super bowl with him and made the playoffs every single year he was in New York. When he shot himself, he became a distraction. Before that I don't think he was as big of a problem as some want to believe.

So, to put it simply, there's no way he could play the position permanently, but who knows about special packages/plays that would line him up there? What do you think? Works for me! I think TE is one of the coolest positions. There's the "traditional" way of thinking, yet there are ways to be more creative with that position. If you have an extraordinary athlete, it could be a great option, and gets him on the field and back into the game (Vick specifically here). I just know that sometimes the "traditional" size at any position doesn't always apply to some who are outside the norm, but have abilities beyond their physicality. Does that make any sense?
August 14, 200917 yr That was the best team McNabb has played with to date. T.O. sat out the last two meaningless games of the regular season and he had a great game in the Super Bowl. With torn tendons in his ankle. Remember, "he wasn't the one throwing up in the huddle with 5 minutes on the clock.":sssh: Did he play in the playoffs? I thought he did, but I could be mistaken. He came back for the Super Bowl. He was absent for the rest of the playoffs. They won the NFC without him and that damaged his fragile ego...don't you remember McNabb saying something to the effect that Philly would move on with the guys they had and TO got his feelings hurt? Apparently, he didn't want the Iggles to be able to go on without him. That presser when McNabb said that and TO responded like a 2 year old was the beginning of the end for that marriage.
August 14, 200917 yr I think most people are talking about in the Wildcat offense that he could line up as a wr. At this point, he is obviously being brought in as a backup qb, which suits him well for now. Unless McNabb gets hurt, he's likely to appear in Wildcat formations and maybe get some mop up or spot duty from time to time. Who would you rather have as a backup qb.....Vick, Kolb, or Feely? I think the answer is obvious. I agree. I like the move from all standpoints, depth included. But, it seems like this year especially, Reid could be creative with Vick. There's no QB controversy, nobody is calling for Vick to start. He's just happy to be employed in the NFL. Why not get creative? Put in a few wrinkles with him, use him a few plays every week and give teams another headache to prepare for and give yourself another big play in waiting. With Vick in the fold, Philly has amassed a ton of speed...he, Jackson and Maclin are all elite in that area.
August 14, 200917 yr I honestly do not think he will be running any dog rings anymore. But that doesn't mean I don't think he'll be a law abiding citizen either. Has he ever done anything prior to this to make you feel that way? The fact that he isn't on the tabloids, news, etc speaks volumes for his character because he is obviously attempting to re-enter society peacefully. Sure his charges have made the news, etc, but he has not been on the news chatting anything up like others do daily, ex: TO, D. Sanders, Ocho Cinco, etc. You need to just admit that you hate him and move on. I guess that next Monday you will not be taking him on our fantasy draft, correct?
August 14, 200917 yr Which brings me to another point. He can't stay healthy either. He'll get hurt at wide receiver in no time . If they're dumb enough to try him there, it won't matter if he does get hurt. He'd just be taking up space as a wideout. Having him injured would force them to play a real receiver instead, which would be an upgrade.
