August 9, 200917 yr http://bleacherreport.com/articles/233218-what-if-josh-hamilton-were-black Josh Hamilton is a crack-addicted drunkard. A big deal was made in 2008 about his "journey to hell and back," the "demons" on his shoulder, and how he had found Jesus and that his previous life was forever behind him. There have been rumors that, especially while playing for Cincinnati, he was not popular in the clubhouse. The outspoken Brandon Phillips (a dark-skinned black man) who also came from a great family and could easily be described as an all-American kid (of course only if he was born white) was rumored to have openly asked why Hamilton received special treatment. His ability to hit a baseball is the only thing that separates Hamilton from the worlds of millions of other drug addicts. And it is not so much that he fell off the wagon—more the fashion which it happened. When did it become acceptable for a self-professed man of faith to eat whipped cream off another woman's breasts? Every white person who believes Hamilton deserves another shot—go look in the mirror and imagine yourself as a black man with a crack pipe dangling from your mouth. How did this go from religion to race, christian to caucasion? Bottom line is he is a MAN, no matter what race, who made a mistake. People obviously would'nt think any different of him if he was black judging from the post on here. Seems to me everyone is out to get him anyway.

If he was any other baseball, it would be no big deal, but the fact he can't seem to get near a camera without cramming his Jesus routine down everyone's throat when he know's he's living a lie. I doubt very seriously the "1" time he's done this it gets caught on camera. He certainly wasn't shy from the pics which leads me to believe this is nothing new to him.
August 10, 200917 yr Just because someone openly states that their a Christian doesn't absolve him from this type of stuff... He's a drug addict, cheater, and phony, much more than he is a Christian.... I thought we were supposed to act Christian, not just talk like one.
August 10, 200917 yr I'm glad i'm only judged by one...and not all of you. Glass houses guys, glass houses.
August 10, 200917 yr This whole story reminds me of what was told to King David in I Samuel 12:14: Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. The verse is dealing with David having Uriah killed to hide his own sin with Bathsheba. His child would die because of it. What makes this bad is that Hamilton has consistently presented himself as a Christian and now he has a tremendous fall from the wagon and many people use it as an opportunity to knock all Christians. Certainly anyone can be forgiven, but things like this often make more and more people turn from what they see Christians as: a group of hypocrites no better than themselves. And that does much to defeat the spread of the word of God.

August 10, 200917 yr Clyde you're completely missing the point or just trying to stir the pot. You've yet ylto really add anything to the discussion other than asking redundant rhetorical questions that make no sense. Watch his "coming home" episode on ESPN or his interview after the home run derby, etc then look at the pictures. The guy is just an acting self consumed, self promoter who clearly cares about himself and only himself. He can claim to be a Christian, go to church on Sunday, drink and cheat on his wife all he wants. He just needs to spare us all with his "I'm a new man, clean and sober, all praise to God" stuff when he knows he's really not living the life he claims to live, and that my friend is the definition of a phony. Really? You said you knew he wasn't a true Christian because of the way he talked and by the pictures. So what an intelligent person would take from that is that you can't be a Christian if you actually turn out to be a sinner. I'm no bible thumper but I do know that we all sin, thus my question that irked you so. So, tell us. Are you saying that you can't be both a Christian and a sinner? Does the act of sinning cause him to be a fraud in your mind? Unless he has been quoted as saying "I don't sin" I'm not sure you have any proof of him being phony. You can speculate and be cynical but that's not really proof. He's apparently a sinner.
August 10, 200917 yr I don't hate him, he's a human like anyone else, but sometimes I get the feeling the stuff he says is for show I don't have a problem with Christians making mistakes. I don't have a problem with true Christians who live by the book spreading the word of God. I DO have a problem with phony's and hypocrits cramming the Bible down our throats and doing stuff like this. I just don't buy his act anymore. Ever listen to him talk? Did you see the pictures? Game over.. Clyde you're completely missing the point or just trying to stir the pot. Find anywhere in this thread where anyone said all:rolleyes: Did anywhere in this thread did I say Christians don't sin? NOPE Didn't I actually say that I understand Christians make mistakes? YUP! Why don't you actually read my posts before putting words in my mouth. My issue isn't that Hamilton "sinned", my issue and I think most everyone elses, is the fact he crams how changed he is down everyones throats and then stuff like this comes out giving the world the ammo so to speak that he is indeed FAKE and a PHONY!
August 10, 200917 yr Some may want to check out the Bible and see who Jesus hung out with. Prostitutes, adulteress, liars, drunks, criminals, tax collectors. He hardly ever hung out in what at that time would be equilivant to our church. :thumb::thumb:

So you can't "change" and then still sin? Should people never proclaim that they're born again for fear of people like you calling them "phony" when they do sin? Would you prefer people just keep their religious beliefs to themselves?
August 10, 200917 yr So you can't "change" and then still sin? Should people never proclaim that they're born again for fear of people like you calling them "phony" when they do sin? Would you prefer people just keep their religious beliefs to themselves? Can you not read those posts? Everyone else seems to get my point. I'm not going to sit here and play semantics with you as you try and twist everything I say into something else, which you're not even doing a remotely decent job at. Let me say this for the final time and I'm done acknowledging your responses until you can comprehend what I've said. My problem with him and I'm sure many others as well is the fact that we've literally been choked to death on his "to hell and back" story. I have no problem with people spreading the Gospel, but its a completely different thing when he goes on his little Home Coming show with the guy from SI and keeps up the act when he's been doing this. In my eyes he's on the level with a Reverend Al. Says all the right things but not even close in his actions. I'm out.
August 10, 200917 yr So you can't "change" and then still sin? Should people never proclaim that they're born again for fear of people like you calling them "phony" when they do sin? Would you prefer people just keep their religious beliefs to themselves? Is this just a regular level sin for a guy that has been pumping the Jesus card since he got a sniff at a 2nd chance? Some early 20's randoms sucking shots out of every "unmentionable" place while the beyond loyal wife and family that has bought the lies a long way away and thinking things are finally back on track? I'm 100% certain this isn't his first and will not be his last relapse. This time he simply got caught. If you are OK with that as the "nature of any Christian sinner" fine. I think he's a bag of lies that was bought by those looking for the rare feel good story in the wrong place...
