CatsCatsCats Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Just thought I would be one of the first on here to predict that Baylor True Sophomore Robert Griffin may end up as one of the best pro-prospects of all-time. The 6-3, 200 QB came to Baylor because of a strong interest in track and his close relationship to coach Art Briles, and as a true Frosh he only turned one of the worst BCS programs into a competitive team in the tough Big 12. Sub-4.4 40 time and a very good passer. 2000+ yards passing (60% completion percentage), 15-3 TD/INT, 843 rushing yards (1000+ had it not have been for sacks), he is the total package. He may not ever been the college QB that Bradford or Tebow is, but I think he will really change the game, much like Pryor was suppose to. Though Pryor is bigger, why wouldn't you want a guy who runs better and faster, and is a much more polished passer? What does the BGP Nation think?
goldendomer57 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 That video didn't show me that he can pass. I could see him in the NFL but not a QB.
CatsCatsCats Posted August 2, 2009 Author Posted August 2, 2009 That video didn't show me that he can pass. I could see him in the NFL but not a QB. Really? Have you seen very much of him, or are you just going on the video? If you see Pryor as an NFL QB, then Griffin has to be one as well. OF the Spread, fast QB's I think he is the best passer that has came in, better than Young, Vick, Alex Smith, etc. Watch a few of his games this year, and if you still feel the same way then that is good enough for me. I don't think he would play anything else for very long in the NFL. He's expected to run in the 2012 Olympics.
BoondockSaint Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Let's not get ahead of ourselves. I realize that he was only a freshman but that video didn't show me anything besides the fact that he's fast. I saw nothing special out of his arm and some poor decision making for a highlight reel. I'll reserve my judgement for a later date on this kid.
BigSpikes Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Robert Griffin is Mike Vick with the ability to throw an accurate pass, or Colt McCoy with a 4.28 40 Yard Dash Time. Griffin's the real deal, the highlight tape doesn't do him justice, I suggest strongly that anyone that considers themself a college football fan to do some research on Robert Griffin.
goldendomer57 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Actualy I have only seen the video so I will trust your judgement. But, if he is planing on runing in the olympics maybe track is more important to him than football and he won't even try to go to the NFL.
BigSpikes Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Here's his stats from last season: 160-267, 59.9% completion percentage, 2,091 yards. 142 passer rating. 15 Touchdowns, 3 interceptions. 173 carries, 846 yards. 13 touchdowns. To put those stats in perspective: Tim Tebow attempted 31 more passes, and completed 5.4 percent more of his passes, but also had three all-conference receivers. Baylor's three leading receivers were Kendall Wright, David Gettis and Thomas White. Ever heard of them? Oh yeah, he was also the Big 12 Outdoor Champion in the 400 meter hurdles, 1st team all-america in 400 m hurdles and set the NCAA Midwest Regional record for his 400 m hurdle time. Think about this as well: in high school Florida Running Back Jeffrey Demps ran the fastest 100 meter dash in the history of American High School Track and Field at 10.25. In high school, Griffin was clocked at 13.55 in the 110 meter hurdles. He was a little over three seconds over Demps' time, but he ran 10 meters farther and had to jump over things. That's a fast young man.

And, yes I do know who he is!
buzzer beater Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 I like Griffin's game a lot. He is a very athletic QB who will be a treat to watch in 2009. I don't know if he is the best NFL prospect ever though, but we will see how he plays this year. He's very talented and can be a nice NFL QB.

NHS BIG DADDY Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 The guy had me cussing at the TV and shaking my head when my huskers played them. He's really good but best NFL prospect ever is way to much to soon.
CatsCatsCats Posted August 2, 2009 Author Posted August 2, 2009 True, but being really fast and being an NFL QB are 2 totally different things. JMO. He's not just fast. Watch him some this season, he is a very good passer as well. You also have to take into account when you watch them that he plays for Baylor. But, Griffin is a very smart kid, and his passing will only improve with time. Not to mention that he will continue to get faster from running track. That is not saying very much none of those guys are are good passers. And, yes I do know who he is! That's why I said that. He's not like them. He is an athletic QB who can pass. Maybe he will never be as accurate as Peyton Manning, but I think he is what everyone thought Vick would be. I wish your relative well in the future. I wish he was my relative, so he could give me some money in a few years. Most draft experts have him as the top QB for his draft class. (Since he is only a sophomore, they don't have him ranked for 2011, though I think that's when he leaves) I just wanted to throw it out there, before everyone starts to get on his bandwagon. Watch him this year, and everyone will forget all about Pryor. I would only take 4 other QB's over him this year to start a college team, obviously Tebow, Bradford, McCoy, and Snead. And alot of that has to do with experience, though I don't know if he can ever be as good in college as the Big 3. But some of that comes with the team that he is on.
