Reminds me of Antwan Randle-El in his Indiana days. He would make a good receiver/rusher/special teams guy like Randle-El but he is no First round Quarterback.

Pretty sure the same was said about Reggie Bush being the greatest NFL RB ever too...

 

Reggie had a fatal flaw in his game, he can't run between the tackles. Griffin's harshest criticism is that he has a little bit of an elongated throwing motion. You can fix that. I hate when people see a fast QB and think all he can do is run, but Colt McCoy and Zac Robinson are both mobile and are considered good passers as well. Just because he is a great athlete doesn't mean that he cannot complete passes.

 

And sure the Big 12 is weak defensively, but Baylor only has one other good offensive weapon skill wise in their RB Feely.

With some guys it's not about mechanics. Jordan's fade-away jumper wasn't fundamentally sound but it worked. .

Fundamentally you should never shoot off balance or fading away from the basket. Just because Jordan perfected it doesn't mean that it wasn't sound. For instance, if you were coaching an elementary school team, would you want your boys/girls practicing that? Maybe you would, I don't know your ideology sportswise.

 

Jordan, and Kobe, and Lebron's athleticism allow them to fade away from the basket while maintaining their balance. That allows them to hit the shots.

 

I have no problem with it. Some players can do things that aren't really traditional and thrive with it.

 

But it's cool since everyone knows everything. To think that an NFL QB could actually be athletic and a capable passer, what a thought! Sorry guys, but the days of Tom Brady & Peyton Manning type passers are slowly coming to an end. Like it or not. I don't see why anyone would fight it, in all honesty the NFL is dreadfully boring as is. And football is by far my favorite sport, but I cannot get excited for any one single NFL game. Players like Griffin and even possibly Pryor are going to change the NFL, more than the NFL is going to change the players that are brought in.

 

While me, Spikes, and NFL scouts see the truth everyone else can just hate on a guy they may have watched one or two times.

Man, you can't claim some dude from Baylor to be the best prospect ever and not expect to get some heat on it. I won't comment specifically on this guy except for the fact that he is incredibly athletic as evidenced by the video and that athleticism obviously does not mean that he can't be a QB in the NFL. As for the end of the Brady's and the Manning's- we'll see. Linebackers are extremely athletic in the NFL, I really think that a scrambling QB over the long run will be an injury liability. Oh no doubt. I just wanted to throw it out there early because I think that Kiper and McShay will really love this guy during and after his Junior year. I don't see Griffin as a scrambling QB, he is a dual-threat. He can beat you passing or running. And I didn't claim that he was the best prospect ever, I said that he MIGHT end up as that.

 

I say that because of the comparisons he will get to Vick. Vick was a can't miss NFL prospect and had a great start to his career. This kid will end up being every bit of the athlete that Vick is because of prepping for the Olympics, and I think Art Briles and staff will turn him into a good, sound passer. Not to mention that he seems to have a lot better of a head on his shoulders than Vick.

 

No doubt traditionalist will not like him as an NFL QB. To that I only ask why someone such as a Colt McCoy or Zac Robinson is looked at as a more legit passer? Just because he is extremely quick doesn't mean that he doesn't fling the ball well.

The reason the NFL CAN'T implement this style and it has been shown over and over is the defensive schemes and the athletic ability of 11 men on that D. Like the NFL or not, it isn't going to the Spread Offense any time soon. Teams will use a few wrinkles for about 10 plays a game, but that is it.

If I'm wrong I will own up to it. Always have, always will. Griffin may end up flaming out and not even getting drafted, but I think, with the last few years as evidence that spread philosophies are slowing seeping into NFL locker rooms and coaches offices.
