January 19, 20179 yr Saw the bulldozers and a sign about the demolition the other day. Not real sure how I feel about this place being a Cracker Barrel since I own a condo back behind that location.

January 19, 20179 yr No worries. Their business model seems to be attracting travelers who stop off on their way to or from a destination. With a location so far away from an expressway, I just don't see the consistent traffic necessary to keep them afloat. Sure the after church crowd will be huge, but what about the other 5-6 days of the week? The one in Somerset does fine, it is not off an exit of an expressway. A few miles from where the Cumberland Pkwy begins. Pigeon Forge has a couple I think. They are not near an expressway. Although they are usually near an exit, they have success in tourist locations. Not sure Cold Spring is that, but high population and traffic.

I could see them putting up those signs "Cracker barrel next exit right 1.5 miles" While those expressways seem to be more local travelers, still fairly close. I too question that this is not the norm for them.

Demolition crews from Covington-based Hosea Project Movers dug into the more than 100-year-old landmark Jan. 18 at 4210 U.S. 27, Cold Spring. Cracker Barrel submitted plans to build its second Northern Kentucky restaurant at the 7.6-acre site in November 2016. Property tax records value the property at $1.6 million. Demolition is expected to be finished by Jan. 20, Cold Spring Mayor Angelo Penque said. Under an agreement with Cracker Barrel, Cold Spring plans to turn a lake on the property into a park with trails. Opening of a newly constructed Cracker Barrel may happen as soon as late spring or early summer this year, Penque said. "For Cold Spring, we're excited about the future," he said. Opened in 2009, Nightclub Guys' n' Dolls was the last of a string of short-lived businesses to occupy the 15,000-square-foot building once used as a 19th-century livery barn. Guys' n' Dolls closed in 2012. Afterward, the weddings and special events center Devannas on the Lake leased the building for two years until closing in 2015. Afterward, a Guys' n' Dolls sign was put back up. The Cold Spring Roadhouse was the building's name for eight years until 2007. Before 1999, eateries Buckskin Bev's, Frontier Cattle Company and Red River Cattle Company were in operation. In the 1960s and 1970s, the original Guys and Dolls nightclub operated in the building. Back in the 1940s the building thrived as the Plantation restaurant. Passed by yesterday, so an update: buildings are down and haul away is in full effect. As for the lake, I'm guessing that everyone else was tired of the Canada Geese getting up off the water and coming to the front door feed trough of the place anyway....If they fill the lake in for no other reason than the geese I'm good.... ....as long as they deport the geese back to their homeland and build a wall to keep them there
