Not feeling guilty at all. You're are calling out those who you said call themselves Christians. I call myself a Christian, and I know I'm a son of God, saved by His grace. I can't speak for anyone else on here, so when you start calling out Christians, then I'm going to take offense to it.

I said Christians who disparage other people because of where they are from. If you don't do that (and you don't that I am aware of) then you have no reason to be offended. If you do discriminate and you are prejudice then good- someone needs to hold you accountable or when the sheep and the goats line-up it won't be pretty. I am a Leader in my church so I am held accountable for the beliefs of my people because I am a teacher. I am going to be held even more accountable than the people in my church because God has called me to disciple them. So I take rebuke very serious.

 

I wasn't talking about anyone on here. I meant in my general church/life experience. Heck even in my own church there are people who do and as a Leader I have to deal with that and call them on the carpet and try to teach them the truth- like I said I am accountable for them.

Y'all are missing the point, something that seems to happen in Kentucky a lot. Last time I checked there aren't an influx of people coming into this country and state who speak Latin.

 

I think you may be missing our point, if you come hear, learn to speak English. If you want to speak in your native tongue at home, that is your poragative. To conform to the immigrant makes no sense. If you want to learn it to speak to them in their tongue and feel all warm and gooey, go for it. I just think that is is reverse discrimination to have to be bilingual into to be considered "skilled" in America.

I agree to a point. A lot of them do want to learn English...it's just not that easy to pick-up a second language nor is there a lot of opportunity for them to learn English. Last time I checked Rosetta Stone software was a bit pricey!

 

But also if we truly are a free country then we can't force people to speak English. But just because we have freedom doesn't mean there is freedom from consequences. The consequence of not learning English is that it creates a lot of problems for them. I am trying to pick-up some Spanish because i want to be able to get to know them better and share Christ with them. But I don't feel the need to learn the language completely, nor should I be forced to. :thumb:

BUT, if people learn to understand each other a lot more, language isn't much of a barrier. I am just guessing on your age, but statistics show that by the end of your lifetime, Caucasians will not be the majority, should we all have to learn their language? The ones who drops us from the majority? I don't think so, but understanding other people, people different than ourselves, is what needs to happen, not 'if you want to live here you need to learn a certain language.

It's important to note that as far as anyone knows no one has claimed he drowned because he could not read the sign. LRCW was just asking theoretical and valid questions about possible legality. I highly doubt any suit will rise out of this.

I agree on this, it was stupidity more than anything. But I think that the one's who are saying (and me included) that IF, IF there was negligence then not being an American or legal alien is no excuse to not let them sue. I don't think anyone has said that the city/county or state was negligence.
