That wasn't your problem, you couldn't move the ball either way...USC was just too good. What happened against Penn State, Illinois, Florida and LSU in the past few years?

What makes you think it's going to be any different? I have watched plenty of Ohio State football during the last five years that I've lived in this area, and I've never understood the hype that they get. That Florida team in 06 wasn't really that good, especially compared to the one that won the title this past season, and they smashed Ohio State, and that LSU team wasn't much better.

 

What have you seen from Terrelle Pryor that makes you think this year will be any different? I see a very gifted athlete, but a quarterback that can't throw a five yard out effectively.

Just a few thoughts.

 

1. I think Cincy will struggle to win the Big East. I think that WVU is the kind of underrated pick, but I think they will get it done. I think Stewart has found his stride, and I think that Jarrett Brown has been forgotten about a little bit. If he is able to pass consistently I think Noel Devine could make a run to NY, though I can't see him winning the Heisman.

2. Notre Dame shouldn't be a preseason favorite to get to the BCS given the last few years, but they could get there. People forget that in Willinghams years there he only brought in a handful of linemen (8?). That's why Notre Dame's run game has been non-existent, and they have struggled so much IMO.

3. If Texas gets to the title and has to play UF it will be ugly. I know Oklahoma lost alot on their line, but they are going to be alot better than Texas IMO. They still have Bradford, Gresham, and the 3-headed monster at Tailback, and their defense will be much improved. I don't see Texas as having the type of team that can win a title, McCoy is great but I just don't think they have the team around him to win it all. I have been wrong before though.

4. USC will dominate OSU. People forget about USC, but they are the deepest team in the country at QB. Maybe they don't have a Tebow, but who else has 3 QB's that could start just about anywhere? They will be fine. OSU, I just don't see it. They lost alot, and I don't think that Pryor is the type of passer, yet, to be able to beat a really, really good team.

5. Like I've said all along, I think it's going to be a rematch, UF vs. Oklahoma. I'm almost 100% sure of that. I am interested in seeing Bama, USC and Ole Miss though, maybe one of them can change my mind, as could possibly Texas.

 

 

Spikes, do you think that Boise beats Oregon to start the season? I know you have Oregon as a sleeper. The only way I see Boise getting to the BCS is in an undefeated season. I think Boise wins vs. Oregon, but I think of the smaller schools TCU is the strongest and could bust into the BCS this season, though I would never count out Peterson and the Broncos.

I think Boise goes undefeated this year.

That's a tough one, I think this will be the best Non-Conference game that will never be talked about. Ohio State fans will talk up the USC game, and they'll get trashed again, but this game brings two of the more unique offenses in the country with two coaches with bright futures IMO. Chip Kelley seems to employ the spread better than just about anyone in the country and Chris Peterson has established himself as one of the 6 or 7 best coaches in America, and that's just the coaches. Both teams have decent defenses returning, and both have excellent Quarterback-Running Back duos; Oregon with Jeremiah Massoli and LaGarrette Blount and Boise with Kellen Moore and Jeremy Avery. But the game is on the Smurf Turf, so for now, I'm taking Boise.

 

But one thing I will say is that if USC is to lose one game this season, it will be to Oregon.

I think Florida defeats the winner of the OU-Texas game as the winner of that game likely will go undefeated and earn the BCS title game. Or the right to lose to Florida is what I meant to say.

 

I'm not believing that USC will be better than Texas or OU. I know they always reload, but with Tebow, McCoy and Bradford all coming back, I think they put their schools in the top 3 spots. 2 of those 3 should go undefeated and if they do, not even the BCS can mess that up.

I think USC will be under the radar, and that's the scariest place for them to be. Sure Corp is no Tebow or McCoy, but I'm guessing by the fact that he has won the USC job that he is still adequate enough. If USC's defense reload's I think they have a serious shot of winning the title.

They play a tough schedule, but they have always played a decent schedule and benefitted from it. I think USC has a better shot at getting to the title game than Texas.

I'll be attending the USC/OSU game this year and can't wait! Bieng a Michigan fan I will be cheering for anyone who plays against OSU:lol:.

 

I hate the big ten now. Were so weak now compared to the SEC powerhouse's and other teams like USC. Im so tired of seeing big ten teams going to bowl games and gettting embaressed. Of course it would be nice if my Wolvs would even make it to a bowl game.:madman:

Good point, but Ryan Broyles came into his own towards the end of the year, Gresham is one of the best tight ends of this decade and Madu, Brown, and Murray are all worthy of starting just about anywhere else in the country. And I'll take OU's defense over Texas'.

Bradford has really never faced alot of pressure. Credit the lineman, sure, but it is also in the scheme and tempo if you ask me. Hard to call blitzes when a team can get into any formation and run and pass equally well when they can move at that extremely quick no-huddle pace. I think they are the best in the country at that, and it's not just talent wise compared to other faced paced no huddle teams. I think the fact that they formation you to death also plays in.

 

Teams like Missou really formation you to death as well, but it's mostly the same things over and over again. OU's no huddle has I-form, single back, and a bunch of spread formations. I feel that they can mask their flaws (which is only inexperience) by keeping teams off balance. Look at the first half vs. UF in the title game. UF tried to get creative and blitz and play normal defense. It resulted in 14 points, and 3 other opportunities that OU choked away in the red zone. UF showed in the 2nd half that they only way to stop what Oklahoma does is to play really basic things, and just out man them.

 

For that last reason, I don't think Texas can beat them. I don't think Texas can stop them, and I don't think they have the offensive personnel to win a shootout. I think that unless people fall in love with an a team that can also go undefeated like a USC, that OU vs. UF round 2 is just going to happen.
