Recruiting's Press-Register Super Southeast 120 list of hot football prospects

Who are the hottest Southern high school football players in the Class of 2010and where are they leaning as they begin to make their college choices. The Press-Register has analyzed the prospects and come up with its list of the top 120. They are provided below, with height, weight and 40-yard dash time.

1. Marcus Lattimore, RB, Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes, (5-11, 210, 4.46). Superior vision and cutback ability and an impressive burst of speed have this Palmetto state back as the top player in the Southeast. Auburn, Georgia and Florida State lead Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee and others.

In somewhat suprising news, not one Kentucky kid on the list.

No one from Kentucky on list

Does that paper consider Kentucky the southeast? Just curious because we sometimes get lumped into the midwest.

From where I sit, being lumped into the Midwest would be okay.

Seriously though, it's easy to see why Florida is so successful.

Kentucky just doesn't have the number of athletes other states have. I feel like the best teams in KY can play with anybody, but the lower tier teams are pathetic. In other states the lower tier teams are still bad but have some outstanding athletes that would be superstars in KY.

Answers my question!

I had the same question too? And it has been answered.

I think some of the blame lies in the lack of exposure. Some of the players from the Louisville schools and NKY and Channing Fugate..................you'd think one or two would have made the list.

Surely Highlands should have had at least one on there..............wouldn't ya think?

I thought Collinsworth would be on the list. I also thought Channing Fugate he would be on the list.

I would have expected Tyrrell Willis to have a shot at making the list, given the schools that are recruiting him.

Ah, if Brian Robinson out of Ft. Lauderdale is only #119, I can see why no Kentucky boys on on the list. Collinsworth and Fugate are very good, but so are the players on this list.

There are probably some other contributing reasons why Ky is not represented: Inconsistent instate media coverage; lack of local resources to send blocks of kids to out of state, high profile combines and camps; spotty youth leagues to identify and develop talent; southern locations get several more days of outdoor practice time and Florida has 400 high schools that play football including 220 schools in class 6A, 5A, and 4A. The population range for Florida 6A is 2363-4147. Just some thoughts.

I saw Da'rick Rogers last weekend at a camp. There is no one in the state of KY that looks like him. On top of that his team is loaded and they couldn't win the 2a state title in Georgia. What does that tell you? Collinsworth and Fugate are good players, but they would be fairly common in the south.

There's a reason no KY kids are on the list.

The South.
