July 5, 200917 yr Why don't you experience Cincy and head off for some Skyline/Gold Star/Dixie Chili. When in Rome... Another great call.....
July 5, 200917 yr There's also one on the Newport/Ft. Thomas border, just a few minutes from the river. Actually, there's now a Graeter's right across from 4th Street School, one block south of the Levee, which would be even closer.
July 5, 200917 yr Why don't you experience Cincy and head off for some Skyline/Gold Star/Dixie Chili. When in Rome... Of these, I'd recommend Dixie Chili on Monmouth. It'd be worth the short walk up Monmouth! :thumb:
July 5, 200917 yr Don't live there, but go to several Red's games. My suggestions for #2 and #3 are: #2 - Hofbrauhaus #3 - Newport Aquarium These two places are right across the street from each other.
July 5, 200917 yr There's also one on the Newport/Ft. Thomas border, just a few minutes from the river. While we're sharing, there's also one in Union.
July 5, 200917 yr Just an FYI. The Reds start their night games at 7:10... GT, gates open for BP 2 hours beforehand, correct? I recommend attending BP. My 12-year old son enjoys that more than the game.
July 5, 200917 yr All these are really great ideas. I also recommend Montgomery Ribs on the Ohio side. One thing you do not want to miss is Greaters Ice Cream. There is one in downtown cincinnati as well as off Buttermilk Pike in Northern KY. Best ice cream in the world hands down! A treat for kids of all ages! For a baseball fan, Montgomery Inn is great because he has a lot of memorabilia there. Also, the Reds allow unopened bottles of water and some snacks. We always buy two of the big liters of water, freeze it and take it with us to cut down on drinks we have to buy. As it thaws, we have ice cold water throughout 2/3's of the game.
July 5, 200917 yr The shuttle service offerred by TANK is actually $1.50, and as mentioned runs between Cincinnati, Covington, and Newport. It runs every 15 minutes. http://www.tankbus.org/RoutesSchedules/SouthbankShuttle/tabid/69/Default.aspx I love the Shuttle...:thumb:
July 7, 200917 yr For fun the aquarium in the Levee would be perfect for a 7 year old. If that's not good you can always see a movie or something on the Levee or go to Gameworks. All of which are in the Levee. Your kids will love gameworks or the aquarium. I'd go with Pompillio's for dinner.
July 7, 200917 yr I definitely agree that you don't want to stay at the Travelodge. Newport's Comfort Suites or the new Holiday Inn Express in Bellevue are what I'd recommend instead. Both are close to the bridge you would need to walk across. Holiday Inn Express in Bellevue is actually pretty nice, its only about a year old, so obviously newer rooms with Flat screen Hd tvs in them. You are walking distance to the Buckheads restaurant, Newport on the levee and can take a 1.00 bus ride over to the game. I'd go to Montgomery Inn for dinner, larosas for lunch and gameworks for entertainment.

That's just not a good idea. Unless you like drinking all the little cancer-causing plastic shavings that flake off during the freeze-thaw process. It's awful for you.
July 7, 200917 yr If you want to stay in a very nice hotel check out Cincinnati Marriott Rivercenter. It's on the Covington KY side, but it is very nice. You can leave your vehicle parked in the garage and walk to the stadium, or take a bus or taxi. I think parking is $15 per day. Comfort Inn in Bellevue is also a nice area. You will have Newport on the Levi, which is right down the street from the hotel. Both hotels are on the KY side of the river. I think Newport on the Levi has a game works section which your son might like. Not sure what time they open. There is a Dewey's pizza in the levey also. This is the way to go for your hotels and the levy is fun...and for restuarants you could go to Pompillio's in Newport, it is only 3 or 4 blocks from the levy. Good solid Italian food, plus they have the draw of having some scene's from Rain Man shot there. Some cool pictures on the wall. It just a neat old time neighborhood restaurant with good food.
