June 29, 200917 yr While they are only 2.5 games out they are still just 37-37. Anything can happen in the playoffs but while the Reds staff is as strong as any in the league there are other things to consider. In the playoffs you mostly face the top of the other team's starters and bullpen. Most of the contenders can match up with them at the top of their staff and still have better offenses. None of the players mentioned in the article are good enough to make me think that they can make the Reds favorites in the Central and if that is the case why give up prospects when they have such a young core and should be better next season? I don't want them to make a trade this season. I don't think this is their year. Next season is much more likely for a run to the playoffs...but I've been surprised they have stayed this close with all the injuries.

I think the Reds stay pat & I think that's the best decision in the long run. At the very least, wait until mid-July when more teams are "sellers".
June 30, 200917 yr I don't see the need to take on the extra dollars in a trade for Holliday. Nix and Gomes are providing better statistics for much less and Holliday could walk after the season. I know most aren't EE fans, but he will be an upgrade once he returns.
