Track the Reds (Week 13)

Featured Replies

So you're going to pull a guy after 7 innings who has given up like 2 hits and walked 2?

I'm w/ you. I would have sent him back out. I don't understand Weathers coming in or pitching to Pujols though.

Actually, I believe he was still working on a one-hitter going after 7, if I recall correctly. Homer pitched brilliantly tonight. It's critical that he build off this outing next time he pitches. This could very well be the game that finally gets Homer going, which would be great since it might offer the Reds some trade options.

Like trading Dusty to a Single A farm club . . . . . :irked:

Fun night at the ballpark tonight. Great weather.

Rhodes coming in and tossing 4 straight balls to load the bases was ridiculous. He's done a good job this year, but you just can't have that in a game like this.

The Screaming Eagles and the fireworks capped off a very entertaining night at the ballpark. Wish the good guys would have won, but there were a handful of head-scratcher managerial moves/non-moves that cost dearly. I was telling the guy behind me that I would give Albert a free pass with the sacks full - about 30 seconds before he smacked the grand slam.

Chalk up another 2 game difference in the standings to good old Dusty. Pujols 9-18 in his career against Weathers, brilliant move by Dusty to bring Weathers in to the game. Simply brilliant. :thumb:

Janish didn't help either.

I formally retract any support I have given Dusty Baker in this thread. He is incompetent.:ohbrother:

Yes I wouls have pulled Homer. He was at 100 pitches and starting to throw more balls than strikes. He had a wonderful outing so I would have taken him out and let the best bullpen in baseball start out the inning instead of getting two runners on and then letting the pen make one bad pitch and get beat. Both Weathers and Rhodes are much better when they start an inning. Dusty manages by the seat of his pants. There is no rhyme or reason to what he does. How do you let Herrera pitch to a righty when you have fisher and roenicke in the pen. He makes no sense what so ever.

Attaboy. Way to man up and admit you were wrong. I hate when westsider is right.

Here's what I hate about it. Reds had a chance to take this series if managed better. In the event the Reds win today, they have Carpenter going against the whiffleball pitcher tomorrow. No chance to win this series now IMO.

Homer should never have been in the game in the 8th inning. Guy pitched a great game. Dusty had a chance to get him out of the game after 7 and build his confidence. Dusty Baker is the biggest reason the Reds wont win this year. He plays his favorites and manages by the seat of his pants. Why let Herrera face a right hander when you have fisher ready with the bases loaded. He is an absolute goof ball.

I'm with you. I told my wife (who really could care less) that no way Homer comes back out for the 7th. Naturally, she enjoyed the fact that he ultimately did come back out. However, my reasoning is simple. Young kid. Struggled. Send him out on a positive note. Don't tempt fate. Instead you put your pen in a jam.

The thing that got me is that he led off the 7th. Pull him for a pinch hitter & you can't go wrong.

Bailey was on fire last night.

Pujols beats us...again. :ohbrother:

When listening to the radio it was said that the relievers weren't up to start the 8th. You know you're giving Homer a short leash and yet you don't get anyone up until he lets a runner reach?

I see the Cardinals getting the sweep now. The loss yesterday was huge.

Willy Taveras back in the lineup today. Gomes was red hot during interleague play and then Dusty cools him off so he can keep Taveras in the lineup. When will management learn that Dusty is killing this team. People can say he has had injuries and he is still just 3 games back. Give us a different manager and we might be 5-7 games up with everyone starting to get healthy. Fire Dusty!!!!!

I know the loss was deflating last night but as a Reds fan I'm excited to see Homer throw like he did and realize that you can put him, EV, and Cueto in the rotation for a while and be in good shape.

Secondly, for those concerned about Homer's attitude, him walking up to Weathers last night with a "hang in there" should put that to rest.
