I was just getting ready to post about the bolded, though from the viewpoint of someone that doesn't remember Elvis's death. I do remember MJ from way back when I was a kid, so this stands out to me, but is not affecting me nearly as badly as when Dale Earnhardt died.

 

 

Been watching some of the stuff on MTV. Actually, the old videos do bring back memories. Just watched Thriller, the first "mini movie" video. The dance is classic. Personally , his work after the the "Off the Wall" album , I didn't really care for. Still had some good stuff but not like the early years.

I am not going to lie, Michael Jackson passing away just doesn't seem real to me. I love his music growing up. I remember even having a couple album covers back in the day...which is crazy for someone from my generation.

 

His music will for sure live one...at least for me. I just can't really believe it.

While I always loved breaking down a little Billy Jean on the dance floor or Thriller lol this is one of my favorites when he wasn't young. Cool video somebody put together for it too.

I believe his greatest video was "Ghost". That beat Thriller hands down in my book.

I'm a "youngin" but I am just shocked at this passing of MJ. His music is timeless and will forever live on. It was kind of bittersweet hearing all of his songs on Kiss 107 the past 12 hours. An American icon, and may he rest in peace.

I was never a fan, but respected his talent. I was in high school when Thriller came out, and admit that I did enjoy that album. He was a very odd, but very talented individual.

I was watching that this morning. Here at work, I've moved onto Youtube's channel of Michael Jackson videos. Man, he was such a musical genius.

According to TMZ, MJ was given the synthetic narcotic Demerol daily. As it appears, yesterday the doctor may have injected him with too much Demerol. The doctor is currently nowhere to be found.

 

I'm not all that crushed by the passing of MJ. I guess I just missed the MJ Era, as most of my memories of him are from the mid-to-late 90's.

Farrah & Michael...huge icons of my generation. I had the Farrah haircut, all the MJ albums, danced like a fool trying to imitate MJ, we had the glove, the socks & the jacket...it may sound strange but yesterday, my generation realized that we have grown up.

Radio here in Cincy are saying he has died.

 

Don't stars deaths generally come in 3's for whatever weird reason. Farrah, Michael and ??

Depends on the generation. I think it's Elvis or Mike myself. The argument for Elvis can be made because of the movies but I'm not so sure 30 years from now Mike won't be the biggest. My reason is that he was a SUPERSTAR since the age of 9. He had music through 3-4 decades that stayed at the top of the charts. His fame now will be bigger than it ever was and he was as big as it gets in the 80's. I also think he did things like break the color barrier for music videos which doesn't get talked about much. It's funny because I always think of him singing as a kid, wanting to dance like him in the 80's and not really for what he became after that much like the Elvis fans don't think of him as the overweight druggy. They both had their flaws but they are music icons!
