Simpson demonstrated good speed and quickness after he caught the ball. He has good hands. Tight end has fantastic hands and caught the ball in traffic very well. QB throws the ball short and medium well. Doesn't throw the long ball as well. Nonetheless looked like a very fine qb and if not asked to do more than he is capable of doing, will be very successful throwing the ball. SK throws the ball a lot, and I mean a WHOLE lot, over the middle and had success doing it. I'm not a fan of throwing over the middle often because of the opportunity for interceptions and getting your receivers killed. If it had been a real game, the SK receivers would have taken some brutal shots. Bottom line: SK looked good throwing the ball but I'd like to see more passes to the outside. If SK is going to avoid teams stacking up to stop Simpson running the ball, they will have to be able to throw the ball effectively. Seemed to demonstrate the ability to do so last night. Of course, when you add pads and a pass rush, things can change quickly. Countering that is the fact that, of course, the DBs and LBs knew last night that every play was going to be a pass and could drop back into pass coverage at the snap. When the games begin and the threat of Simpson running the ball comes into effect, the DBs and LBs won't have that luxury.

 

Was this SK's first 7/7 this summer?

 

Any word on the SK player that got injured and had to leave? I hope he's okay.

No it wasn't their first they were at Grant Co. and Anderson, OH last week. No one really at the Grant Co. 7 on 7. Played well in a weather shortened game vs Anderson. They are quick. I agree we have to be able to throw the ball or we will see 8-9 in the box.

In addition to the receivers you mentioned, I thought Gall had some really nice catches. And Bardo looked absolutely superb. Kid threw the long ball last night as well as, if not better than, any Highlands qb I've seen in a very, very long time (and that would include the big boy).

 

I'm on record as saying he was top 3 LAST SEASON. Just watch him throw in warm-ups and you can see his abilities. He'll have a huge season.

I assume the SK qb was Lawrence?

What grade is Cris Carson? Did he play last year? Is this kid a WR?

 

He's a very short junior reciever that didn't receive much PT last season.

It's good to play against teams with quality passing games, SK won't see a ton of passing teams but Conner will air it out so playing against HHS can only help.

Double D, since the second teams were going at it at the same time as the first teamers were, I really didn't pay much attention to how the second teams looked. Hopefully someone else can answer your question. Sorry

If Bardo stays healthy and he plays anywhere close to superb 5A is over before it starts.

Sweet Sassy Molassey that's a lot of talent in the receiving corps!!!! Has Highlands EVER had such receiving depth??????
