What should Walt do?

Featured Replies

Not sure why, but I thought he was a FA after this season.?

He is but the thread was about what kind of moves Walt would make this season--whether the Reds would try to make a trade to contend or not. I thought you meant that you would rather see them trade for Bay this season. He is a free agent after this year, but the Sox talked extension with him in spring training and I don't see any way they let him walk after the season he is having and the way Red Sox fans like him.

OK. I agree with that. Either way Holliday or Bay bust the payrole on Cincy.

Maybe the Reds should look at Adam Lind..Not the big name outfield bat, but he is providing some good pop and hitting for average.

I TRUST WALT ! Maybe he can go from baseball to GM of the Bengals after the season.

It looks like the Pirates are looking about dealing Jack Wilson to the Red Sox, why don't the reds try to go after him?

The Reds don't have the young, close to Major-League ready pitching to outbid the Sox in that deal. Besides, Jack Wilson is not going to push the Reds over the top--they need a bigger bat that he provides.

Why would you want to go after him of all people?

Already have our version of Jack Wilson, Alex Gonzalez.

I think Walt needs to do nothing. Let them get healthy and see where it puts us.

DeRosa looked good last night and hit his 12 HR. He would hit 30 in Cincinnati and probably is not as expensive as Holliday. Walt has better get him before some else in the division does.

DeRosa went yard again today.

Even at full strength I think they still need another bat to put in the middle of the lineup.

Home in October is where it'll put them....

It's an interesting quandry because the Nationals have some working parts the Reds could use, but after the grievance was filed over the Kearns/Majewski trade, one wonders if the Reds would try another trade even with the absence of Jim Bowden.

You mean a power bat like Adam Dunn?

:-)

Really though, they do need to make a push. Holliday will be dealt by July 31st. Bring him in. Jermaine Dye would also be a nice addition, as would Aubrey Huff, who I think could turn things around with a change of scenery.
