Any Boxing Fans Out There?

Featured Replies

Ok, I have watched it once, I watched the Ken Shamrock fight two or three years back when it was on Spike. But I probably still don't know what I'm talking about.

See above, I didn't mean to touch a nerve; it's just not my cup of tea and we all have biases against things we don't know anything about.

But NHS, I would absolutely love a fight between Mayweather and Pacqiaou. That would be one of the better fights of the past 20 years IMO.

Didn't touch a nerve here, I just think you shouldn't say things like that regarding something you know nothing about. It is absolutely nothing like pro wrestling, in any way.

You can't call it gay, because you attended this years state tournament... :p

 Busted. :isurrender:

I'm a boxing fan, I love sitting down and scoring the fight, I've got my wife doing the same. I know De LaHoya is becoming big in the fight game as a promoter, and hopefully one day they can unify the belts, at this point there are too many champions.

I enjoy scoring them as well. Maybe De LaHoya can find some heavyweights and get that divsion back to its glory days.

Yeah Id love to see that. That would get me a little excited about boxing. Also with basically no HW division worth watching that really hurts boxing a lot if you ask me.

Sorry to call you out like that...

lol, boxing sucks. You talk about a gay sport. Who cares if Mayweather beats anyone at this point. Boxing's dead.

The undercard fights on an MMA card are much more exciting than most undercard fights on a boxing card IMO. Also don't have the problem of having corrupt promoters or 100 different belts in MMA either. Most people consider the UFC to have the best fighters and the best champions (aside from Fedor).

Boxing just doesn't do it for me like MMA. Not enough big time fights IMO. I would like to see someone KO Mayweather though.

The undercards are better b/c the best fighters all are willing to fight the same night b/c there's no competition and no real money like in boxing. If there ever is some real competition that starts offering crazy amounts of money to the bigger stars it will end up just like boxing. I don't know that it will happen, but it would hurt the sport. For my money there is nothing better than a huge boxing match. The UFC is good and entertaining, but I'd rather see a huge fight.

Cotto (33-1) vs Clottey (35-2) are on HBO tonight, I'll have the score card ready.

Me: 115/112 Cotto

Wife: 114/113 Cotto

Judges: 116/111 Cotto; 114/113 Clottey; 115/112 Cotto

Cotto by split decision.

Very good fight, very difficult to score. Cotto's eyelid is nasty.

There are all kinds of "huge" fights in MMA.

UFC 100 features two "huge" fights.

Georges St. Pierre is fighting Thiago Alves and Brock Lesnar is fighting Frank Mir.

Both are for UFC championships and both are "huge" fights imo. I've seen a lot of the bigger boxing matches lately and while they are entertaining at times, they get a bit boring to me sometimes as well. I'd much rather spend my $44 on a card where I know the undercard and the main card have potential, rather than spending $50 on watching ONE boxing match.

That was my point. Huge boxers aren't going to fight the same night on the same card b/c there's so much more money for them to fight on their own card. If a real competitor to UFC forms and takes some huge names is the only thing that can hurt them. Or if the big guys decide they're big enough w/o White. It may happen eventually.

I also had it 114/113 Cotto. Clottey let up at the end and it cost him. He was too arrogant thinking he was way out in front.

Affliction has the best heavy weight in the world. The UFC does have some competition.
