Track the Reds (Week 10)

Featured Replies

It's obvious that the rain delay hasn't hurt him...:deadhorse:

I didn't think it would ruin his career. It was still a dumb decision.

He has pitched well two out of three games. What about the game before that? Are we leaving that out? The Nats have scored some runs, but I get the feeling they are like the Reds of years past. They're capable of scoring 8 or 2. They have won 15 games. Harang should beat them.

Pitchers have bad games all the time....It happens

I'm not disputing that. They also get hot against teams that aren't good or that aren't playing good....ie...St. Louis lost 5 straight before last night and the Nats have 15 wins.

Well that's good for the Reds then

Dusty is loyal to a fault. It takes him a long time to chage his mind and realize there are better options. Examples are Patterson, McDonald, Weathers in the 8th and closer always gets the 9th. Last night Cordero struggled to throw strikes before the rain delay and Dusty brought him back after a two hour delay. When does he learn that Masset may be his best reliever in the bullpen. He should have been brought back last night and should be our 8th inning guy. Does anyone else notice Cordero goes to a full count on nearly every batter even if he starts 0-2. It would have been a killer to lose this game.

This may be the worst Reds offense in many years. Yes, I know Votto is out but these guys are professionals and has to do better. We can't hit off of the worst pitching staff in the Majors. I don't believe the hitters are aggressive enough. Many time our hitters take the first two pitches for strikes and an 0-2 hole is not a ticket for success. These guys swing and misses more pitches right down the middle than more little league teams. Dickerson pitch hits last night with a man on and he does not take the bat off his shoulder. Phillips will get a big hit but swings wildly and seems like grounds into a DP once a game. Gomes and Nix have struggled lately but seem to have a idea at the plate. Hernandez and Hanigan seems to get us the best AB. I keep thinking it is going to change but it has not yet.

Are we 1 1/2 games out of first and it's the middle of June? Not sure if I heard someone say that or not. Man,,,,,we just suck!

I was reading that the Reds have scored 12 fewer runs than this time last year, despite losing Dunn, Jr, Edwin and Votto for most of the year. The offense is down but i wouldnt say its the worst in many years. I think our small ball has gotten a lot better this year.

Y'know, they struggled frequently on offense when Dunn and Griffey were here, too. I'm happy with the way things look now, all things considered with the injury issues the team has had. The main reason is the pitching is so much better than we've seen in recent years.

Amen. I don't get the bashing of this years club at this point.

There are still a lot of people out there who long for Dunn and Griffey, and even Austin Kearns, which seems inexplicable to me.

C'mon guys, we suck, we're a whoppin' 1 1/2 games out. Terrible.

Phillips swings wildly only at first strikes IMO. Once he gets down in the count he's a different hitter.

What does that have to do w/ anything? They're not in the greatest division ever. Their offense leaves a lot to be desired.

I think I agree with you.:thumb:
