Does anyone know who the applicants are?

I still say Bill Mason has earned the chance.

 

Before Mercer, he was the HC at 6A(old 4A) Nelson Co. for a few years and did a more than respectable job there. I think he was .500 or better all of his years, except for his last in '05. IF Nelson had been matched up with any other 4A district, come playoff time, his record would have been much better. It's tough when you come in 1-4th place in your district, then have to turn around and play St.X, Male, PRP, Manual, etc. in the 1st round of the district every year.

I was talking about in the playoffs with the season or state championship on the line, but it's all good.:thumb:

 

Actually Mason County lost a heartbreaker to Highlands in the '03 AAA State Semi-Finals or they would have been Boyle's opponent that year. Of course that Royals team had a couple of decent players named Dustin Grutza and Chris Lofton on it. :lol:

LOL Well, if that is going to be the system's stance on this, you might as well not waste your time with a "search committee" accomplished coaches, almost without exception, will not work in situations like that, because the schoool system is not serious about winning. If you are just going to play ball with no expectations, fine, go out and do your best, but if you want success, you must do some things to give yourself the chance to win.

It happens where they win traditionally, some places may win from time to time with a coach that works like a dog, but not regularly.

Mckee makes sense, 5A is more attainable than 6a for him and there is school split talk at Scott County. But McKee is the AD I am sure he makes good $$$ at Scott County.

There are a few young local coaches out there! How serious is Mercer about grabbing someone solid. Inside sources know Buchanan has turned it down!

That's a perception and I think its a bad one. Coach's can teach and coach, especially experienced ones who have taught for a while. I know old coach Jaggs taught health and pe the whole time he was coaching, Mueller is the chair of the science department at Highlands, if I’m not mistaken, and it doesn’t seem to bother him much! Saying you can't do both effectively is BS. I don't think that is an indication of how serious a football program is about winning, there’s a whole lot more to it than that. After all the purpose of every school's existence is to teach kids, not play football - sorry.:scared:

When people say he is a good coach it makes me laugh. Some of you people know nothing about coaching. He couldn't win a state title with a college team playing in class A. He wouldn't have ever won a game if he had to play with athletes equal to everyone else's.:lol:
