HAHAHA, the administration at Mercer must be a joke.....this don't happen at places where the administration has it right. I bet Marty is getting a kick out of this mess.

 

I guarantee it. He's probably hating it for the kids (from what I know, he was all but sure they would give the job to Mason, so had a feeling a comfort that they were going to be in great hands), but getting a kick out of all those that wanted him out and glad that he was giving it up.

 

Just goes to show just because something looks good on the outside (new multi-million dollar facility and school) doesn't mean it's that good or even close on the inside.

Good for him. He has the best job in WKY and has done a great job rebuilding the mess of sorts he was left when he got to Hendo.

Best job in western Kentucky? What about Bowling Green? Christian County? Hopkinsville? Owensboro? I'm around Lexington; do some of those schools not fall in "western" Kentucky?

I can't even describe how upsetting it is to me the way Coach Mason has been treated durring this catastrophe. Even in his only quote in the Danville paper he took the high road and was very positive and genteel. I hope he doesn't just do what is right for the players, but he tries to do what is right for Bill Mason and the Mason family.

 

While at Mercer his defense held oponents to an average of less than 15 ppg in his 3 seasons, so he took care of his business. He has went to bat for players for anything they needed. He writes letters of recomendations, helps players find a college, is a positive male role model for young men, and he even spearheaded the off season weight lifting for football and basketball. Despite the fact he wasn't getting paid to do it. He does it not because its in his contract, but because it the right thing to do for the kids and the program.

 

The disrepect shown to him is even more of an embarrassment to the community, than the Weaver story. This put and even darker shadow over the district than what already loomed before with the merger, and other alleged incidents. Mason put his work into the program. What had the MCSH given him in return?

I dont know about football, but the best basketball coach in the county is a buddy of mine and he coaches at that little school 4miles down the road. He wanted the basketball job when it opened and the AD and principal wouldnt even talk to him about it. So you get two great head coaches at Mercer - Cundiff and whoever is left over to finally takes the football spot!

Yates is the one that needs to go!Clean the house out.The board should look at this as a slap in the face from Yates.If he cannot hire the right football coach that wanted the job then how can he keep the kids in check?

Mason knows all the kids and they like him and want him as the leader.

If Yates has a problem with Jaggers don't take it out on Mason.I'am sure Jaggers will settle it him with any day he want's.The only problem there is Jaggers won't have a powder puff match with him.

Could not have said it better myself. I can tell you one thing about Mason if indeed it is offered he will do what is right for the kids of Mercer and his family. That quote in the paper was before he knew Brown wasn't going to be accept the job so that says alot about him in my book.

#2 Todd Davis teaches weights in the classroom but if you call talking on the phone and playing on the computer all day teaching.

#1 As far as spring practice he never actually did it the whole time he was there. I can name several good programs that do the same thing he did in the spring.

I wonder how the man won so many games?Oh, I know he just had better talent. Let's see what the next guy does. Weaver didn't want to take his chances with all that talent.#3 He lives in Harrodsburg and he goes to church there what does he need to do that he didn't do. I know alot of coaches that don't even live in the community they coach. Larry French is an example he still lives in Lincoln County. #4 As far as his personal life ,you make sure you cast the 1st stone.

Hey, if having my own opinion doesn't make me very 'neighborly' then so be it. I have said numerous times that Marty is/was a good football coach. He knows the game and I have repeatedly said that. I just don't feel sorry for him like some others on here do.

 

A healthy debate never hurt anybody, so I don't get upset when other posters on here don't see everything the way I do. That's life buddy!

Enough with these hack coaches who are just trying to get bigger paychecks from their school. Dave Thomas is serious about coaching and wants to be at Mercer Co.

 

Only a hack would think that these coaches are hacks. The problems at mercer would make any coach that is worth anything think real hard, is it worth it to but your family in that spot light.

Agreed! Former Mercer Head Coach Will Weaver - :laugh: - couldn't resist that - said he felt Mercer was a 'gold mine'. I think he is right, but there is a lot of digging and cleaning up at the high school before you get to the gold.

A healthy debate is good, but name calling is not. Some need to re-read the rules and follow them, or you will be on the outside looking in.
