I've seen cases in which it did hurt. But in the case of the Leffew brothers I think they will do a fine job. Why aren't they at Boyle?

If you read this site much, I don't think you can find many who would agree on who or what makes a good high school coach. I'd think the higher level the better the instruction, don't know how that could be bad.

I think the Boyle staff is pretty consistent which would mean not many spots on the staff. They could likely be higher up the list at Lincoln and make a little more money.:confused:

Too bad assistant coaches Craig Yeast, Bobby Lefew, Travis Lefew and Dean Wilks can't suit up and play. All were very good college football players.

 

I think Travis Lefew is a great addition to the staff.

NFL football and college football don't have anything to do with high school football. Thats where alot of coaches screw up. Its a different game.

It always depends on the individual who is being added to the staff. I have seen both examples. Just because you played at a high level doesn't mean you can articulate or instruct others to play in the same manner. To answer the comment that was quoted, I have seen coaches with pro experience try and treat high school KIDS like adults and it always ends with disastrous results (i.e. screaming and yelling at kids, teaching a blocking scheme that worked great in the pros but for 14-18 kids flat out isn't realistic for them to learn or execute).The best coaches are the ones who develop relationships with the players.

Travis and Bobby both played under Chuck Smith. I think they will be fine at Lincoln County and will not have too hard of a time coaching at the high school level. Their extra experience only helps, IMO.

This is fantastic news, I saw this story the other day on LC's blog (Patriot Sports Talk). Man, this staff has a lot of major experience and a Head Coach who won coy a few years ago. if they can get the numbers up they'll do just fine. It's hard to do a lot in 5a with 30 players dressing. That number needs to double.

Travis is a great guy...I wish they had a spot for him at Danville...This is a huge + for Lincoln Co. I guarantee Lincoln County's line will get better with Travis Coaching them...:thumb:

These guys will only help to push Lincoln Co. to the next level.Its only going to get better for the Lincoln Co. Football Program.:dancingpa
