SKINPIG Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Which one of these statements rolled of BHO's tongue the easiest? 1. "We are not a Christian nation". 2. "We could be one of the largest Muslim nations".

SKINPIG Posted June 4, 2009 Author Posted June 4, 2009 He said both of these things??? Can I have the websites and quotes please? Thanks. Yep, he said them both. #1 a few weeks ago and #2 I think yesterday on a french television interview before his trip. I saw them both on Hannity tonight. It should be easy to find with a little research.

3wishes Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Do either of these bother you? So much that I cannot believe there isn't an impeachment pending. Absolutely just astonishing that he said these things. Our founding fathers are rolling over and attempting to stand up in their grave.
True blue (and gold) Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 So much that I cannot believe there isn't an impeachment pending. Absolutely just astonishing that he said these things. halfback20 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Overreaction at it's best. Let's take a look at the REAL quote. "if you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, we'd be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world". Is that false? If it is he simply made an error on interpreting statistics and nothing else. I'm sure a quick google search would reveal that the U.S. has a lot of Muslim citizens though so I see NOTHING wrong with this statement.
halfback20 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 According to this link there are around 7 to 8 million Muslims inside the U.S. as of 2008.
Gunner11 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 According to this link there are around 7 to 8 million Muslims inside the U.S. as of 2008. So far from one of the largest Muslim nations in thw world??? That would put the US about 25th largest... Appears just extremely factually inaccurate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Majority_Muslim_countries
swamprat Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 According to this link there are around 7 to 8 million Muslims inside the U.S. as of 2008.Estimates. Just like the estimates in the previously linked article that referred to a Pew poll indicating that the number was closer to 1.8 million. In either case, the US is no more that 25th in muslim population. No where near the one of the largest. So yes, it is false.
cch5432 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I'm not offended by the statement, just (mildly) surprised that President Obama would A) feel the need to say such a thing and B) be so factually incorrect.

I have no answer for "B" but I can certainly understand the president trying to appeal to muslims that americans are not entirely dissimilar to themselves, that indeed, the US has a large population of citizens that are muslim.
