May 28, 200917 yr Some guy was talking about him having good swings last night. I guess he knows something after all. Same guy knows what constitutes an outfield assist as well.

May 28, 200917 yr Easy to say this after the hot start from both of our catchers, but what a treat it is to expect good things out of that spot in the lineup. Granted Ross had a stretch 2 seasons ago where he was hot, but for the most part the catchers have been awful offensively. Our 2 guys have done a bang up job this season. And the versatility of Hernandez at first has been remarkable. Kudos to the guys who don the tools of ignorance, as my college coach used to say.

May 28, 200917 yr Great finish to the homestand for the Redlegs. Day off tomorrow, then 2 games against the BrewCrew and (I think) 4 against the Cards. Big week next week. Cueto starts things off on Friday against Braden Looper. 3 against the Brewers, 4 Cards, 3 Cubs @ home. We should know where the Reds stand after the next 10 games. Against the Cubs they have Cueto and Harang. Against the Cards its everyone except Owings. They have a chance to make an early June move. I would be good w/ a 4-3 trip and taking 2 of 3 from the Cubs. Anything better and it's time to look for a big right handed bat.
May 28, 200917 yr Volquez should be back in the rotation on Monday. Yep so the Cards will see the Reds best 4 pitchers.
May 28, 200917 yr If the Reds cannot get anybody in a trade, they need to look at signing Nix and Gomes. At the end of the year, there combined stats will be comparable to the players that are being kicked around in trade talks. I am sure the Reds did not sign Gomes and Nix to longer than one year deals. We never do. We cannot let Gomes and Nix walk like we let Cantu leave a few years back.

May 28, 200917 yr Jay Bruce looks at the seven games against Milwaukee and St. Louis that lie ahead as an opportunity. “We go on the road with some momentum,” he said. “We plan on coming back in first place.”
May 28, 200917 yr I am not sure what your definition of megaprospect is... However, Nix was the top prospect in the Rangers organization atleast one year. Maybe the top rated prospect by Baseball America in one of the Major League Baseball Teams does not designate a "megaprospect"... But it means you certainly have a level of high TALENT. I am finished with this discussion, you may type any rebuttle that you would like. I am just tired of hearing about your man-crush on Nick Swisher. Nix has never even been an average major league outfielder. If you think he's suddenly found the right formula at age 28, more power to you. A "man-crush" on Swisher? Hardly ... I'm not the one that brought him up in this thread. But it's far from a stretch to say that the things he brings to the table could help the Reds' offense.
