Track the Reds (Week 8)

]That's a back breaking loss. [/b] Their best pitcher gives them a very good effort and they can't get it done. It's even more frustrating that they had an opportunity to at least tie in the 8th. Add to that Votto leaves again early' date=' brutal.[/quote']

On May 29th, 1 1/2 games out of first? Maybe September 29th.

It would have been nice to have Votto sit the entire time until this 10 game part of the schedule. These three series could make or break the season. They may not but if it goes 7-3 or 3-7 it puts them in a position to know where they stand. I would rather Votto not go on the DL at least for a few days now. It's bad to play a man short but I would risk it w/ him.

At what point in your career do you figure out not to run into a guy w/ the ball so he can turn a double play? Don't people know that by the time they're 12 years old?

To not bunt in that situation is dumb baseball no matter what the numbers against Coffey said. If you are going to swing away why not Phillips who is your leading RBI guy? If you are worried about Taveras struggling hit Dickerson for him after you bunt and have 2nd and 3rd? All around I can't defend anything Dusty has to say about screwing that situation up royally. If

Willy Taveras 8

Jerry Hairston 5

Jay Bruce 9

Brandon Phillips 4

Laynce Nix 7

Ramon Hernandez 3

Alex Gonzalez 6

Ryan Hanigan 2

Aaron Harang 1

Season is over if he misses much time at all IMO....

Question for everyone....What was Bruce trying to do in the 9th? Hoffman has made his living off his changeup, and you look silly 3 straight times, like you didn't even know what was coming?

Votto to the DL is a back breaking loss.

Should've been done two weeks ago. Something ain't right with him and he is too valuable to take a chance on.

That's the thing, everyone has known what he's going to throw since 1993 but he continues to make them look silly.......That's how he's gotten 566 Saves. He's only allowed 6 baserunners in 14 innings this season as well. Why would Bruce be the one to suddenly solve it?

Way to hold that lead #39.

5-3 Redlegs now, 4th inning.

Hate to see runners get thrown out at the plate (it's happened twice tonight) but I like the aggressive baserunning. Got to give the Brewers credit for making two excellent throws.

On Votto ... Will Carroll, Baseball Prospectus' injury expert, said this week that his information is that Votto's continued problems are more related to reactions/side effects related to the medication than the actual inner ear infection.

That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. For an inner ear infection he is going to be on an antibiotic which in theory they would think it would clear it up in 3-5 days. If the antibiotic is causing a vertigo effect, then they would switch it to another. If he is having pain they would give him a drop that has simple benzocaine in it.

The infection should not be going into its third week this upcoming week. If it is he stands some structural hearing damage in his ear long term.
