Why? His .176 batting average? Do you not like winning with Hairston?
At the time of Gonzales' injury, Hairston was hitting under .200 as well ... he's on a hot streak, nothing more and nothing less.

 

It's amazing how some people here are so willing to make snap judgments every time a player has a hot or cold week.

Hairston's offensive production over a year is not greater than the value of Gonzo's defense and offensive production over a year IMO.

Makes me wonder too why the Reds gave him 5 million a year for a guy who hasn't had more than 400 AB's since 2005.

 

 

I liked him a lot when he was with the Red Sox, but he frustrated me with his inability to stay healthy. He's still a solid player when he's in the lineup--the problem is he's not in the lineup enough to justify his contract.

The two contracts on the left side of the infield are headscatchers. The Reds are slowly getting away from these types of gaffs, which wrecked the team in the 2000s
