May 2, 200917 yr Night crawlers. I found alot of fishing pay lakes around the NKY and Cincy areas that stock catfish, catfish and more catfish if you want me to let you know. I was fishing at a place called Cedars Lake in OHIO and caught a 32 pound flathead.
May 2, 200917 yr Black & white jigging spoon for the blues. Bluegill for the flatheads and shad or skipjacks for the channel cats.

May 4, 200917 yr There's probably a lot of strange baits you can try. A guy told us years ago to try this. Cut small squares of panty hose, but a gob of canned cat food in it and tie it up in a ball. We tried it but didn't have any luck with it. It actually seems to make sense as the cat food will act like chum and release scent into the water.

Chicken soaked in Ambesol worked as well. As for the panty hose and cat food, I have never tried it, but hose workes well with chicken liver if fishing in swift waters.

May 5, 200917 yr I have had some luck by using cut up hot dog and soaking it in vanilla extract. It puts some good scent out in the water.

I live close to the Ohio River and after taking the pics I turned them back. I don't usually eat fish from the Ohio. Except maybe white bass. If you had a bad experience with catfish, something was wrong. I caught 4 cats at Cave Run about the size of the biggest one in the pic last year. That was some of the best fish I have had in a long time.
