May 13, 200917 yr TGF did you eat those? I have only had catfish once in my life and will NEVER do it again. I'll bet your's wasn't cut into strips and dipped and battered in cornmeal and fried. If you are ever at Keeneland or Ellis Park race tracks, try their catfish strips - I'll bet you change your mind. The best catfish in the world might be served in Counce, Tennessee, a stone's throw from Pickwick Lake. There are three mom/pop restaurants in town and they each have a different catfish night. Catfish, cole slaw, and hush puppies!!!!

May 15, 200917 yr I know this is off topic but where would you fish for cats at cave run with no boat? Just off the side in the open or fishing were a little stream is coming in?
May 15, 200917 yr I caught a couple of nice cats just fishing from the bank by Twin Knobs campground last year. I wasn't really fishing for them. I had put a minnow on and was sitting there watching the bald eagles on the other side of the lake when I got them.
May 17, 200917 yr Chicken liver and crawlers are very good, but if you want to stay away from the mess that comes with them, try some soft craws and/or the largest leeches you can find or buy, leeches should be showing up soon at a bait shop near you.
May 17, 200917 yr Chicken Livers if you can keep them on. The panty hose trick works well with chicken liver. Also, if you have the choice, don't buy frozen liver. It usually falls apart once it is thawed. If it isn't frozen, just refrigerated, it is firmer.

May 19, 200917 yr Ahhh, cherry chicken. I have used this several times at pay lakes. Chicken soaked in Ambesol worked as well. As for the panty hose and cat food, I have never tried it, but hose workes well with chicken liver if fishing in swift waters. I think the easiest way to fish chicken liver and keep it on the hook is to put a spool ot sewing thread in your tackle box. Put your chicken liver on your hook, wrap the thread around the liver 6 or 8 times tight and just break it off. Your ready to fish. The liver won't come off. You can cast across the Licking River and keep your liver on.

Put your chicken liver on your hook, wrap the thread around the liver 6 or 8 times tight and just break it off. Your ready to fish. The liver won't come off. You can cast across the Licking River and keep your liver on. I have never tried that. It would be less embarrassing than stopping at the Dollar store for a new container of Leggs every time you go to the river.

July 2, 201214 yr I was talking to one of my fishing buddies and I think we're going to go catfishing this Friday night overnight. It'll be the first time this year. We're not 100% positive if we're gonna fish in the Ohio River, but it's pretty likely. We usually just fish from the bank at the mouth of the Licking, but we're thinking about possibly trying around Meldahl or Markland Dam. Anybody have any sweet spots in the general vicinity of NKY?
