May 17, 200917 yr Nope I don't at all. I am a huge Kobe fan no doubt about it but I can see the reality of the matter when it deals with the Lakers. What team is your again? Oh thats right any team that isn't the Lakers, I like your chances. I figured it was obvious who my team is. As a matter of fact I want the Cavs to play the Lakers. IF, and I stress IF the Cavs are to win the title I want it to be against Kobe and the Lakers.

May 18, 200917 yr Author ^ That is mostly a product of the pg's getting blown up. Sometimes perhaps, but not always. Many times, Kobe doesn't respect the man he's guarding, so he leaves him alone and roams around. The problem is, the Lakers as a team play better defense when Kobe gets serious about his man and locks him down. For one, you don't have a guy roaming wide open all the time, and two, I think the rest of the team takes its cue from the leader. Leaving a man open all the time, if nothing else, provides an safety outlet virtually any time somebody gets in trouble. They can always pass it to him to reset the offense or to get an open shot. I have no problem with great defensive players leaving their man to roam and make plays, but you have to pick your spots. There isn't a free safety position in basketball for a reason. That's my biggest complaint with Kobe. If he wants the team to play with some intensity and toughness on defense, then he has to lead by example. He can't just say it, and then roam around and take it easy and expect the other four guys to go 100%.

Very impressive showing from the LA Lakers today. 4-12 14 points When you really think about it, especially considering it is a do-or-die playoff game, it makes sense. There's no way Kobe only takes 12 shots and scores 14 points if the Lakers are in a nailbiter with their season on the line.
May 21, 200917 yr Went to Game 1 last night. Great environment, great game. The Cavs lost game one-and apparently it was the most lopsided 1 point game in NBA history. I said the Cavs would sweep, and I was wrong. I still think they win Friday and then take the 2 in Orlando and close out in Game 5. They were bound to get tested eventually. And for those so quick to jump on to the Lakers train because the Cavaliers lose their First game in the playoffs-they had played 8 before, and one all 8-the Lakers were taken to game seven against a team that started an undrafted 6-6 Center and were without their 2 leading scorers. I don't care how hard they played or how focused the Lakers weren't, or how the Lakers did win their four games, they still got taken to Game 7 against an injury decimated Rockets team.

I'll agree with you there, but One game does not spell doom for the Cavs.

I agree the Rockets weren't great, and were depleted. But that depleted Rockets team was/is superior to the two Eastern Conference Teams that that the Cavs beat.

If not for a 4th quarter meltdown during the regular season game in Cleveland, they would be 4-0 against the Cavs this year, including last night's victory. The fact that they won last night doesn't surprise me at all nor would it surprise me if they win the series. I expect it to be as entertaining as the Nuggets-Lakers series.

I would take the Hawks over a Yao-less and T-Mac-less Rockets team. :thumb: And it wasn't even close... It's amazing how no one will give the Magic any credit. I really don't know what more they need to do to prove themselves. :idunno: Who's not giving them credit? I didn't say anything about the Magic being bad or not deserving to be there. They were the third best team in the East and beat the best team in the NBA three times this season. They aren't better than the Cavs IMO, and I think the Cavaliers will bounce back tomorrow night and win comfortably. I like how no one gives the Cavs credit on here, they lose one (1) game and they lose all credibility; the Magic are world beaters and the Lakers are going to walk to an NBA Championship. The Cavs need to switch more effectivley on their pick and roll defense, and help out more. Illgauskus needs to be taken off of Howard IMO, he is simply not fast enough to keep up. I would put Varajeo on him, and perhaps put either Ben Wallace or Joe Smith on Lewis. Z's slow feet are a liability. Also, scoring 49 last night was awesome, but if the supporting cast comes up short like they did in game 1; the Cavaliers will lose this series. As I said before, it doesn't matter if it is Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, JJ Redick, who ever. If you have one consistent scorer, you aren't going to win a playoff series.
